I do thank you.
Being told to chill, to lighten up, to ignore a lie (later called a “mistake”), to relax —
it’s a little late for that in terms of my life. Also I’ve been involved of late in Moral Theology
threads and am surprised I didn’t suffer a stroke from some of the anti-Catholic screed.
If someone is not a troll, why would they be offended by the term?
I will always be offended when another insists that a lie about the Church is the truth.
I am not offended by the term. I am a “Cradle Catholic” Catholic school and everything. What troubled me is that you represent the religion I love in that manner to other people. People will always have disagreements about our beliefs. And that is good it keeps us on our toes. It has been going on for the last 2,000 years. At least we can disagree with the other Christians in 2011 and not be fed to lions or harmed in any matter.
Our lord was beaten and crucified yet never uttered one single word of anger. I assume we all believe this. Yet I make a semantic error in my explanation and I read so much negativity. I agreed that Venerate is a much better word and owned up to my mistake. As far as a lie well if you believe that well I think you might be a little critical. One day I hope to be perfect, unfortunately I am very far off from that so please, if I make a mistake again on a post, correct me and if I am wrong I will own up to it right away. Getting back to the troll thing. I find that reference about a non Catholic’s troubling. From Pope John Paul 1 through to the current pope they have sent out an olive branch to other religions. However I can understand, I have had to listen to many people disagree about our faith (even in my own family). Our church isn’t perfect. I don’t argue with them because they just don’t understand. Our sick (for lack of a better word) priests have hurt many people and our leaders have done little to correct it. It is a valid complaint. But again nothing is perfect. It is happening in all religions not just ours but we tend to get singled out. But, we should be held to a higher standard our first pope was Peter. I am just happy all my life I had very good priests and nuns that have help me through life. I have been studying the popes for some time. I have finished with Paul VI, working on JP1 and hope to continue with JP2 and John XXIII and then go back from there. Hope this clears things up. I am sorry I misspoke and will try to do better next time.
