Pope Benedict, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and pop singer Lady Gaga have been counted among the “50 People Who Matter” in 2010 in the influential British magazine New Statesman.

Who in the world is “Lady Gaga” and why should anybody listen to her opinion?

Isn’t she a pop singer? People actually care about the political opinions of pop stars?

What next, Britney for president? :eek::confused:
 
What’s it say about me when I don’t know most of the people on the list? I’m not sure, but I only recognized 16 out 50 people on the list. Oh, and I’m glad Pope Benedict was so high on the list. That was really great to see! 👍

It is a sad state of affairs when the likes of Lady Gaga are an influence of any kind. And these people vote.🙂

To be counted among the 50, a person must “have world-changing potential.” The person doesn’t have to be in the world of politics.

Besides, if it were about politics, the Pope shouldn’t be on that list. He’s not just another European politician.

He had to do something to rise in the ratings. I’m sorry the article didn’t explain how. He certainly deserves to be that high, and I can see why the five above him deserved to be one through five.

I’d prefer the Pope be thought of as the “World’s Conscience.”:cool:
