Stating that the absence of fathers can produce “wounds which may be very serious,” Pope Francis devoted his January 28 general audience to fatherhood.
The word “Father,” he said, is particularly dear to Christians because Jesus taught us to use it in our prayer. “The blessed mystery of the intimacy of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the heart of our Christian faith.”
Fatherhood is a “foundational relationship whose reality is as old as the history of man,” Pope Francis continued. In Western culture, the modern “society without fathers” was “first perceived as a liberation: liberation from the father-master.”

Excellent. I doubt this will get much traction beyond the so-called “Catholic” world…a bit narrow I think in many ways for our current climate.
Oh, there are more than a few sociologists, among others, who have figured this out too. One only needs to take a look at studies of criminals to get the message.

That, however, does not translate down to the “street”. and no-fault divorce is only part of the problem.

Government hand outs, more working women, and other factors like that might have more to do with it then just fathers becoming bad in a couple of generations.

Johnson’s Great Society with its handouts to single parent families has been called the single most contributing factor to fatherless homes.

Not bad dads - no dads.

Which, combined with the sexual revolution, has lead to multiple dads, absent.

The studies have been out there for a number of years.

The project, designed to help those in poverty, resulted in a massive increase in poverty; not that I mean to take away personal responsibility - or the lack thereof. And the problems and the statistics which continue to flow from that starting point are horrendous. But it is so politically lethal to speak up and identify the problem that it just keeps rolling along gathering steam.
