Radical equality is also the driving force of decline in marriage and decline in having children. From the article:
Radical equality is the driving force behind SS"M".
I haven’t heard that. What is the reasoning?Radical equality is also the driving force of decline in marriage and decline in having children.
No, this is not true. The pay gap exists even among colleagues within the same field (i.e., female computer programmers with four years experience make less money than male computer programmers with four years experience) and it exists even for women who do not have children.I can’t speak for some countries, but in pretty much all Western nations, men and women are paid the exact same amount of money for the same amount of work. This is the law. The pay gap is caused by women not working as much to take care of children, and by women choosing not to work in fields that typically pay more, like engineering.
Also, women are not as likely to take on dangerous jobs that pay more.I can’t speak for some countries, but in pretty much all Western nations, men and women are paid the exact same amount of money for the same amount of work. This is the law. The pay gap is caused by women not working as much to take care of children, and by women choosing not to work in fields that typically pay more, like engineering. Another minor reason is that men are more likely to ask for raises.
The only way for the pay gap to change, is either for women to stop having children, or for men and women across society to take the same amount of time off of work to raise their children.
That gospel is about our eternal reward and how we ought not be jealous of individuals who come to know our Lord late in life and still receive the gift of heaven. While it’s commendable to ask for equality in pay among other things, how does this explain the gospel about the Workers in the Vineyard?
The article referenced said, “…he [the pope] also called for support for equal pay for equal work.” Sounds to me like he was talking about economic justice. That gospel is about our eternal reward and how we ought not be jealous of individuals who come to know our Lord late in life and still receive the gift of heaven.
I do not think it is meant to speak to economic justice.
The pope was talking about economic justice, but I don’t think the Gospel about workers in the vineyard is.The article referenced said, “…he [the pope] also called for support for equal pay for equal work.” Sounds to me like he was talking about economic justice.![]()
Exactly:thumbsup:Also, women are not as likely to take on dangerous jobs that pay more.
A number of years ago, Economist Dr. Thomas Sowell wrote a paper on this. After controlling for the years experience, time worked, years of education, etc., he found that women actually got paid more.
I think the “pay gap” is just so much hype to get more votes because if there was a real pay gap, employers would hire primarily women because he could pay them less.
I don’t think so either. But if the parable is a real event, the vineyard owner will have difficulty getting anyone to work for him for more than the last hour of the day.The pope was talking about economic justice, but I don’t think the Gospel about workers in the vineyard is.
…
Women want to be identical to men these days, and since men dont get pregnant and can keep working toward their goals without being slowed down by having to raise children, so too do the women want just that. Radical femnists also preach that if men can sleep around and not be tied down with commitment (of course they use the worst examples of men), they dont want to be tied down either.I haven’t heard that. What is the reasoning?
Among other things, like honoring contracts despite apparent unfairness. That gospel is about our eternal reward and how we ought not be jealous of individuals who come to know our Lord late in life and still receive the gift of heaven.
I was in programming for 35 years, and even among people with the same experience, no two people were given the same assignments or were willing to put in the same amount of time. Tough to compare that. The pay gap exists even among colleagues within the same field (i.e., female computer programmers with four years experience make less money than male computer programmers with four years experience) and it exists even for women who do not have children.
It doesn’t. The Pope should probably stop being a SJW in the aspect of “equality.”While it’s commendable to ask for equality in pay among other things, how does this explain the gospel about the Workers in the Vineyard?
Yeah, but I don’t think they are comparing any two specific individuals. Social scientists and economists study averages, trends, cohorts. For example, among men and women who graduated from college a year ago, with the same college major, in the same profession and who report working the same number of hours a week, women make on average 7% less than their male colleagues. Some of the pay gap (which is greater than 7%) can indeed be explained by different choices in education or sector or number of hours worked, but there does appear to still be some unexplained factors or bias in the workforce.I was in programming for 35 years, and even among people with the same experience, no two people were given the same assignments or were willing to put in the same amount of time. Tough to compare that.
I kinda figured it had something to do with a fish not needing a bicycle.Women want to be identical to men these days, and since men dont get pregnant and can keep working toward their goals without being slowed down by having to raise children, so too do the women want just that. Radical femnists also preach that if men can sleep around and not be tied down with commitment (of course they use the worst examples of men), they dont want to be tied down either.
Also, women dont really need men these days for stability and care, they can sustain themselves now that they can work and are educated, so marrying a man isnt a necessity any longer.
