Pope names Alice von Hildebrand to prestigious order [Equestrian Order of St. Gregory]

Pope Francis has declared Catholic philosopher, author, and teacher Alice von Hildebrand a Dame Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of St. Gregory in recognition of her work.

Cardinal Raymond Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, formally invested her in the chivalric order Oct. 30 at a gala dinner in New York celebrating her 90th birthday.

Cardinal Burke said that Pope Francis conferred the honor to recognize her “outstanding and faithful service” and “in public recognition of the esteem in which she is held in the Church.”

A very deserving recipient!
 
I had the pleasure of listening to one of her talks in Rockford a few years ago. Very skilled speaker and great person.
 
She and her Husband, Dietrich von Hildebrand have been loyal and faithful servants to Holy Mother Church. I would strongly suggest reading their work. Especially “The Devastated Vineyard” circa 1973 and “The Trojan Horse in the City of God: The Catholic Crisis Explained” Circa 1967.
 
Alice Von Hildebrand and Mother Angelica are my favorite ladies living in these days in our church. Both have helped me greatly to hang on to my faith during these strange times. Reading Von Hildebrand’s books and listening to Mother’s reruns on EWTN is a real reward for me and gives me hope that I can make it in the church today. It is true that ever since the last council, I have had doubts about whether the church will stay rooted in her beliefs that were so strong decades ago. I do not do well in liberalism as it is too unstable and I need a stable church to hold onto. I do not do well in turbulance within the church and I do not understand how it allowed such scandal to happen and all these dissidents to keep wrangling around against the teachings of the church and no one seems to care, except for people like the Von Hildebrands and Mother Angelica. We need more of these people in the church.
