I like Armorth, but he can be a little out there at times it seems. The denial that dioceses are going to bring on a bunch of exorcists seems like a reliable quote.

The most major thing in this rumor is not the exorcists, but the reinstating of the Micheal prayer. I’m all for it, but I won’t hold my breath.

I think the exorcism squads are St. Michael and his army. My priest says the St. Michael prayer after weekday Mass. 👍

Canon law requires at least one exorcist per diocese (and more if necessary), if I am not mistaken. This would merely be an expansion of that requirement, if the report were true. It might be a good step if most dioceses met the minimum requirement, first and foremost.🙂

Yeah its not like we actually need more exorcists, come on, red guy in pajamas with a fork?

…sarcasm off!

I really do wonder how the whole thing works, how come the Pope can’t ever just force people to do what he wants?

I’m sure B16 would be doing even more if he could, but, with so much opposition to every thing that seems to restore the Church, he probably has to pick his battles.

I like Armorth as well…yep, can be a little out there, but his books are great.

I attended a NO Mass at the Shrine yesterday, a little Latin, lots of reverence and St. Michael Prayer! 👍 It was great.

I think, taking from the books of Fr. Armorth, that what we need to do, as a church body, is realize the need for Prayer Groups. Groups of people willing to pray for the Deliverance of individuals from satan.

There are Protestant groups that do this. I think all in all, Fr. Armorth doesn’t want to see the Church sweep the need for Exorcists under the rug. Every diocese should have one. I’ve heard that mine does, as well as, I met a Russian Orthodox Priest, just a few weeks ago, who is an exorcist. He too, agreed with Fr. Armorth that we need people forming groups and just praying for individuals

It’s Fr. Mackey. I’ve heard he is the only one in our Diocese. He is the Priest who does the TLM in Jacksonville, and is the Chaplain of Una Voce. He was also at the TLM the FSSP did a couple weeks ago at the Shrine. Real young guy, and a great Priest.

Thanks.

Seems like I’ve heard another name. I’ll have to ask my source

As for the Russian Orthodox Priest that I met. Ironic. I went to the shrine, book store of course, he was dressed in his habit, and well, you would just have to know me…I had to ask him “who are you?” 😛 It was an awesome conversation that we had. He is discerning a move 😃 Next time I go to the Shrine, I’m going to ask around about him and see if he’s still there. He told me that he was planning on writing a book himself, especially with direction for laity to be involved in Deliverance. His name is Fr. Michael…say a prayer for him. It would be so cool for him to be “one of us”…he would be a blessing for the Brothers and EWTN!

New Emphasis on Exorcism? Vatican Denies Report

Vatican, Dec. 28, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The Vatican has denied a report that Pope Benedict XVI plans a new emphasis on exorcisms.

In an interview with Italy’s Petrus web site, which concentrates on Vatican affairs, Father Gabriele Amorth, the official exorcist of the Rome diocese, said that the Holy Father would soon undertake a new campaign to combat demonic possession. “Thank God,” said the Italian priest, “we have a Pope who has decided to confront the devil head-on.”

Father Amorth-- who has gained a worldwide reputation as an expert of the subject, and the author of a popular book on exorcism and demonic possession-- told Petrus that a new Vatican document would call for the designation of exorcists in every Catholic diocese around the world. He also said that Pope Benedict would restore the tradition of reciting the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, composed by Pope Leo XIII, at the end of every Mass.

But Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, flatly denied the Petrus report. The papal spokesman said: "Pope Benedict XVI has no intention of ordering local bishops to bring in garrisons of exorcists to fight demonic possession.

The topic of exorcism commands considerable public interest in Italy, and Father Amorth has frequently generated attention with his warnings about the unchecked spread of diabolical influence. In a new course on the topic, being offered by the pontifical university Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Father Paolo Scarafoni has warned that Satanic cults are making inroads in Italian society, and cautioned that the influence of the devil is real-- although he has also reported that most suspected cases of demonic possession can be explained by other factors.

The greatest tactic of the enemy is to make us believe he doesn’t exist.😉 (according to Fr. Corapi) Sounds right on to me.😉

I like how the caption of the second picture in the article completely exagerates what the main text says 😉

Question: How would you suggest he do that?

Apparently Blessed Pope John XXIII removed that prayer to St. Michael at the end of mass, why

Spiritual warfare is more intense than ever now, it seems… Or perhaps it’s always been that way, and I’ve just… I don’t know… opened my eyes lately or something.

People always think, “Oh, that person’s not possessed. It’s just a mental illness.” But perhaps such illnesses are sometimes manifestations of a possession… Who knows but God?

Exorcists are sorely needed. People don’t seem to see the need.
