Of course, we know that we are not supposed to confuse the Rites. And I believe that there was an article in this thread about how kneeling is out of adoration. IMO it’s not just a matter of “human respect”.Eastern Catholics TO THIS DAY do not kneel in Divine Liturgy - ever. Standing is their posture of respect. Kneeling to them is what a worthless and fearful slave does in front of a tyrannical ruler, not a valued subject in front of a loving and merciful King.
How right you are. Oh, that’s not just a humble opinion of yours. Too many humanise God, telling Him: "well you know, it’s no longer “in” to kneel down for a king - so I hope You don’t mind I don’t eitherIMO it’s not just a matter of “human respect”.
That’s the perspective of “just the bible and me” non-denominational Christians. As I said before:

This my Dear, is really the wrong track you follow there. That’s the perspective of “just the bible and me” non-denominational Christians.
Ok, now your just being petulant. I apoligized to you twice in this forum and both times have been rejected. You have mentioned in a previous post that you just don’t know what to say. Well, let me give you an example of some things you could have said. Then what was the purpose of describing receiving Holy Communion on the tongue as being fed as birds?
No I think your intention was quite clear and speaks volumes about how many of the more progressive types feel about receiving on the tongue.
The underlined comment makes no sense.“It could also be noted that the (Pope’s) preference for such form of distribution which, without taking anything away from the other one, better highlights the truth of the real presence in the Eucharist, helps the devotion of the faithful, and introduces more easily to the sense of mystery. Aspects which, in our times, pastorally speaking, it is urgent to highlight and recover.”
Me, too! It was an unexpected pleasure - one for which I didn’t mind waking at all. I wonder if our Guardian Angels weren’t so pleased that they woke us for Joy?Due to some medications that I am taking, I woke up at 3AM to catch the broadcast of the Papal Mass for the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul. Granted, I missed the remarks of His Sanctity, the Patriarch of Constantinople, but, I got to see most of the Mass.
Right before Communion, the commentators from Vatican Radio informed the viewing and listening audience that the Holy Father has made it a requirement that communicants receiving from him should do so kneeling and on the tongue. The Genetlemen of HIs Holiness placed the kneeler and the distribution of Holy Communion flowed rather well. There was a deep sense of reverence among the faithful and it was quite a sight to see.
I wonder how this will play out for World Youth Day.

The Church, the Bride of Christ, has stated ever so clearly that Communion is the hand is allowed. Are you saying the Bide of Christ is insane for allowing Communion in the hand?Oh if only the entire Church could end the insanity of communion in the hand! Well, at least this is a start.
Mother Teresa is pleased!(See my sig below.)
I just re-read my post. No, I did not say that the Church is insane. Are you saying the Bide of Christ is insane for allowing Communion in the hand?
Communion in the hand in the early Church may have been done with reverence (although it was done in a different manner), but bizarre practices and abuses crept in then too, with people kissing the Host, touching the Host (and even the Precious Blood) to their sensory organs. So the Holy Spirit guided the Church to a better way.The Church, the Bride of Christ, has stated ever so clearly that Communion is the hand is allowed. This is what Redemptionis Sacramentum says regarding the reception of Holy Communion in the hand:Again, the Church allows Communion to be recieved on the tongue, or in the hand. Both methods are licit. So we can accept them both as licit, or we have to believe that Christ is no longer protecting His Church from error. The fact that some people recieve irreverently is an issue of education, not method. In my parish, it has been taught STRONGLY lately how to recieve reverently, either on the tongue or in the hand.
[92.] Although each of the faithful always has the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, at his choice,178 if any communicant should wish to receive the Sacrament in the hand, in areas where the Bishops’ Conference with the recognitio of the Apostolic See has given permission, the sacred host is to be administered to him or her. However, special care should be taken to ensure that the host is consumed by the communicant in the presence of the minister, so that no one goes away carrying the Eucharistic species in his hand. If there is a risk of profanation, then Holy Communion should not be given in the hand to thef aithful.179
Therefore, if there is a danger of the profanation of the Body of Christ, then the default method of receiving Holy Communion is on the tongue.[93.] The Communion-plate for the Communion of the faithful should be retained, so as to avoid the danger of the sacred host or some fragment of it falling.180
Not everywhere! You can only receive in the hand in dioceses to which the Church has given that permission, and where the bishop decides to allow that permission.Again, the Church allows Communion to be recieved on the tongue, or in the hand. Both methods are licit.
Excellent point. In my parish, our priests and EMHCs are very careful not to let anyone walk away without consuming. They’ll chase a person down if they have to.Therefore, if there is a danger of the profanation of the Body of Christ, then the default method of receiving Holy Communion is on the tongue.
