I’m glad you are not leaving. The Church has been through worse and is still here today and intact. We all feel the pain of these divisions, on both sides! :console:

  1. Well it has been settled now. They are “out of office” so to speak.
Not sure what you mean by that. Cardinal Burke is no longer a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship, but he is still a Cardinal and still considered one of the foremost authorities on Canon Law. He is still eligible to vote in the next conclave (assuming there is one in the next 12 years). The other three Cardinals are still considered highly regarded in Canon Law, Church History and Theology. While Cardinals Brandmüller and Meisner are beyond voting age and Cardinal Caffarra soon will be, none of them are “out of office” from the standpoint of being Bishops and Cardinals. As such they still have a duty to seek clarity, as Bishop Schnieder recently said. One does not have to have special status in a congregation to submit a dubia.
  1. Has the laity received a copy of AL? I thought not, but maybe I am wrong on that.
Again…

When does the laity ever “receive a copy” of anything from the Vatican? Did we receive copies of Humanae Vitae, Familiaris Consortio, or Laudato Si? Since none of those showed up in my personal mailbox should I simply not concern myself with them?

My bishop had articles on AL for about 6 or 8 weeks with links to the Vatican website where we were encouraged to read it. In the year leading up to the synod we were provided copies of the working documents and asked to comment. My bishop placed the articles in the diocesan paper so I did not get my “copy” through some secret back channels for clergy (or men studying for the diaconate or priesthood).

I am completely baffled by what you mean by your comments?

Okay. I’m confused as to what “removed from the congregation of Divine Liturgy” entails then.

OK then so why all the fuss just NOW??? Why not fuss about it a few years ago? 🤷
The congregation of Divine Liturgy is more like an assignment. Cardinals usually have many projects they are assigned too. Not all cardinals are on the “Divine Liturgy”, Popes often change out these guys all the time - that doesn’t mean they are no longer Cardinals.

The fuss is about how Amoris Laetitia was written, which was only released this year. ?It wasn’t written a few years ago.

Don’t worry, I’m quite a baffling person. 😉

I’m glad he is still a Cardinal. I do not mind asking for clarification privately, but no need for public questioning IMHO. I know you and several here disagree and that is okay.

We did not get a copy of this document. I didn’t even know it existed until all of this hoopla here. 🤷

No one has answered my question. Why has everyone waited until just recently to make a fuss? Why not when it came out?

Well I did quite a while ago in another thread under apologetics. The modertors locked thread stating all question where answered.

Actually this has been going on since at least June that I can remember.

What? How is this worse than those things, especially the sex abuse scandals involving hundreds of children?

Ok I will try to find that thread. I think I know the one you were taking about.

Ok, not there, at least not the one I thought. Could you post a link or has it been deleted?

If it’s been deleted could you please explain the several year delay before a fuss was made about this document?

Also AL wasn’t released until March this year.

Immediately there concerns expressed by many theologians.
Ok. That’s what I thought, but someone said it was published way earlier. Misread I guess.

Division is not good for either side. I’m certainly not enjoying it. I want everyone to stay together and follow our Good Pope.

**Since you say A.L. is now “settled”, and since everyone has seen the official text on line for many months, why do you still say, “We should wait to publicly discuss this when this whole “fiasco” is settled. Not before” ?

That’s not a “gotcha” question; I’d really like to know why you think we shouldn’t talk about it. The entire educated Catholic world is talking about it; why not us?

I’ll bet you a dollar that Pope Francis wants the entire Church to discuss it. I believe that’s why he allowed A.L. to be worded as he did, and one of the reasons why he hasn’t responded to pleas for clarification-- even from the segment of the media through which he often explains his statements and positions. It’s just his M.O.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when he–I am positive-- talked it over with Benedict XVI.😉 **

I would like nothing more then our church to stabilize once again. I am not feeling real well about this at all.

I pray the rosary and pray every night for the intentions of the pope.

Thank you Chipper and Thomas White.

May I ask what page your quotes are on Chipper?

Thank you.

God Bless You

Josh
Not sure what you are asking.

If you are talking about the requested corrections to AL then go to this link:

dici.org/en/documents/the-apostolic-exhortation-amoris-laetitia-a-theological-critique/

Then scroll down to this title:
**Theological censures of propositions drawn from the Apostolic Exhortation **Amoris laetitia

It begins listing all the concerns citing the paragraph number in AL.

Hope this helps your question?
