Los Angeles (CNN)—Convicted juvenile Carlos Adrian Vazquez Jr. lost the will to live at age 16 as he began serving an 11-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
Then he wrote a letter to Pope Francis.

This touched my heart very much, and I suspect that Pope Francis actually taking the time to respond to this young man in prison did more to set him on the road to conversion that anything else.
I think I’ll zip him off a letter too. Maybe he will take pity on me as well.
