Los Angeles (CNN)—Convicted juvenile Carlos Adrian Vazquez Jr. lost the will to live at age 16 as he began serving an 11-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
Then he wrote a letter to Pope Francis.
“I asked for forgiveness for what I did,” Vazquez told CNN en Español in an interview inside juvenile jail.

This touched my heart very much, and I suspect that Pope Francis actually taking the time to respond to this young man in prison did more to set him on the road to conversion that anything else.

I think I’ll zip him off a letter too. Maybe he will take pity on me as well. :)👍

What a great story!

Praying for him and remembering Jesus’ words, “He who comes to me I will not cast out”
