Pope says abortion "not a human right"
By Philip Pullella
VIENNA (Reuters) - Pope Benedict rejected the concept that abortion could be considered a human right on Friday and urged European leaders to do everything possible to raise birth rates and make their countries more child-friendly.
The 80-year-old German Pontiff told diplomats and representatives of international organizations that Europe could not deny its Christian roots because Christianity had played a decisive role in forging its history and culture.

Oi. That’s old news…

Abortion is sad, but so is the society in which it is deemed necessary.

We need the Pope to keep re-iterating this point, no matter how old it seems. Society is in such a state that even basic wrongs can are now deemed “human rights.”

God bless Papa Benny!

I remember an old newspaper headline: “Pope opposes gay rights”. And that was under JPII

How right you are, Tonks.

You are so right! Evil is old news, but does that mean we should stop speaking against it? And nothing is more evil than abortion, the taking of defenseless, innocent life.

I’m right there with you, Tonks40! 😉

Abortion, especially in its more modern form, is a large scale, organized enterprise. This is unprecedented in history. It is not a human right in that, in most cases, two people consented to put themselves at risk for pregnancy. When abortion was legalized in the United States, its proponents kept talking about rape, incest and to save the life of the woman. This later turned into abortion on demand. Instead of sex becoming the act of two respnsible people, it has become pleasure first, and abortion later should a “problem” come up (like an “inconvenient” pregnancy).

Pray for all those who have gone through an abortion and the forgotten fathers who never seem to be part of “a woman’s right to choose.” She didn’t become pregnant by herself.

God bless,
Ed

You’ve touched on another aspect of this issue ~ the “large scale, organized enterprise”. Abortion is an industry now, it is big business. It is key to the livelihood of many many people. Morality is often sacrificed in such situations and abortion is just about as immoral is anything you could find.

People may tout “choice” but a lot of resistance to the elimination of abortion may actually be related to the economic effect of putting the industry out of business.

Our western world is no long holding. And it will be trampled under foot by the Islamists.
