Interesting update on the German Bishops, etc.

The article also mentions a possible “opt-out” clause. I rather doubt that this clause exists, after all, if this clause DOES exist, then what’s the point of the Motu Propio? I don’t think Papa Benny has gone through all the flack over this issue just to leave things as they are.

:hmmm: Depends on the definition of “it.” Is “it” referring to the prayers mentioned in the previous paragraph, which may be excluded anyway, or the TLM?
Among other things, the Germans were anxious about a Good Friday prayer calling for the conversion of the Jews. A wider revolt by bishops’ conferences around the world would have seen off the indult, but in the end the Germans were isolated in their protest. However, when the permission is published, it is thought likely to exclude prayer for the conversion of the Jews, which leaders of the German and the British councils of Christians and Jews have spoken out against.

It could also include an “opt-out clause”, allowing bishops to prohibit*** it*** at a local level, which would placate both the German and the modernist French bishops.
Seems to me that an “opt-out” for bishops to prohibit the TLM at the local level wouldn’t make any sense at all. How do you give a “universal indult” with an “opt-out?”

BTW…
In a private audience with one leading traditionalist, Alice von Hildebrand, Pope Benedict said that he intended to publish the permission to celebrate the 16th-century rite this month.
Another informed source said that the permission could not be guaranteed to be this month.
…One thing we know for certain - the Motu Proprio either will or won’t be published this month! 😃 😛

Wasn’t Ms. Gledhill the one one who mentioned something to the effect of the Anglcians reuniting with Rome? I’d take it with a pinch of salt.

I love the direction this pontificate is going. 👍 Liberal Catholics don’t like it. I LOVE THIS GUY! :extrahappy: May the inquisitions begin.

Just a reminder to all that BXVI was elected by a majority of worldwide Cardinals who knew of Cardinal Ratzinger’s sentiments toward the TLM. This is the Hierarchy of the Church we’re talking about. Good Friday services of any Rite are a separate issue. Done deal.

Memorize those Missals and new saints welcomed. 🙂

I love the TLM even though I don’t know Latin but let’s not alienate the new Catholics by doing away with the Novus Ordo. Personally I believe there should be some balance in between the two.

Moto Proprio Update
I took an easier way out: I just asked Jesus.

Will the Motu Proprio come out this month?
Ye of little faith

Will it be a universal indult?
The holy water will sting (a cryptic reference no doubt, to the Asperges before Sunday Mass)

What about the German and French bishops?
Let me ask my dad.

Ruth Gledhill says they’ll opt out.
No chance in hell

But who understands Latin anyway?
I would

How do I that you’re telling the truth?
Wait for a sign.

I don’t want to.
Have a nice afterlife.

Agreed. More like 50-50.

I’ll believe it when I see it. And if it does come out, which I do pray for. I doubt I will see it in any of my local RC parishes for many many years to come. Hence why I will stick with my local Eastern Orthodox Parish, and the Divine Liturgy. And not the feminist Divine Liturgy that the EC are working on. My soul can’t wait for a miracle!.🙂

Easy, Read the Red Sig.

What’s this “feminist Divine Liturgy” you speak of?
