Pope Benedict XVI told a gathering of new bishops Sept. 15 that they should encourage lay movements within the Church and seek the holiness of the laity.
I am also glad that the holy father said elsewhere that lay people should be enlightened when they go to Mass or by the parish. The times right now are very challenging with many people believing a version of their own truth and not listening to the church. The lay movement of the neocatecumenal way has been a way to work in the vinyard of the Lord, the challenge to live in community, attend to prayer and learn about salvation history through scripture and tradition. The fact that we bring such diverse differences in culture and background definitely indicates that this movement is a gift of the Holy Spirit
