VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Francis told the heads of women’s religious orders from around the world on Thursday that to talk about women when they’re not present is not “evangelical,” and thanked one nun for informing him there’s a “disconnect” at times with Church authorities.
“To talk about someone when they are absent is not evangelical,” the pope said. In the meetings of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, he said, referring to the Vatican department that oversees religious orders, “you must be present and I will tell the prefect this,” he said.
