Pope to make climate action a moral obligation

I totally agree with our highly intelligent and informed Holy Father’s assessment and opinion on proper stewardship of our Earth and its climate.

Well, I don’t know if I currently agree with him or not on the specifics(because I really don’t have much of an idea of what the Holy Father will say). But whatever he does write in his encyclical, I will bring myself to agree with it, or at the very least, assent to it (that being our duty as Catholics, according to my knowledgable friends here). In any case, if I come to find that the Holy Father and I disagree about an issue (such as the care of the earth), it won’t take me long to figure out which one of us is more likely to be mistaken. 😉

I’m afraid to say that (as an evangelical) I disagreed with two popes over the Iraq war. Though I realize that was their political opinion, and not understood to be infallible, I sincerely regret supporting that invasion against their advice. 😊

I do think, however there are many other good and moral reasons to be be good stewards of the earths resources— not the least of which is the imperialism connected w/ the energy barons!

I hope he is very careful how he words his statements so that they don’t get hijacked to promote a particular eco-solution … such as the reduction of CO2. I have a great deal of confidence in his prudence but I have to say that having him speak out on this subject gives me some real concern especially in light of the Vatican going to the extreme of buying carbon offsets to achieve the politically correct neutral carbon footprint.

This could be a big money maker for the Church. At one time they sold indulgences, perhaps they could diversify into carbon offsets!

As long as being a Green? catholic does not mean ABC and abortion then go for it.

We practice conservation in our home also. But I just consider then as being Faithfulo Catholics.
