I remember as a child from a Catholic home and Catholic community, the people ‘in the troubled countries’ used to be up there in our consciousness, in our prayers, in our grace at meal times. With one daily news bulletin we were shocked by images from war torn and famine stricken people around the world. It seems to me that the world wide web and it’s ability to bring these situations right into our view at the flick of the switch, hasn’t made us more conscious and empathetic, but has made us more insular and concerned with ourselves.
Our Lady Help of Christians pray for the people in the troubled countries.
