Pope Benedict wants to see Fidel Castro on his trip to Cuba next month but the meeting will depend on the health of the communist country’s revolutionary leader, a senior Vatican official told Reuters on Saturday.
Fidel is 85 and his brother Raul is 80. Fidel ruled Cuba for 49 years, then handed the reins over to Raul. It’s interesting how “popular” Communist revolutions always end up with a single dictator in charge for life, and how many innocent people are lined up against the wall and shot for being ‘counterrevolutionaries.’ Or sometimes they were just guilty of being middle class businessmen.
