Next thing you know they will “warn” about some Modern-Day Guy Fawkes trying to Blow Up Parliament Once Again in Protest of that Pernicious Anti-Catholicism Sweeping over Merry Old England right now.

I agree with John Of Woking-----Holy Mother Church needs to worry more about Apathetic Secularism/Atheism than any potential Anti-Catholicism.
Most of the British Public basically DOES NOT CARE ANYMORE----so how can they be THAT Potentially Intolerant?

I think there may be a good amount of anti-catholic bias in England but I doubt in our days of secularism that people even know that catholics are different than anglicans. I heard that there are more people who go to catholic church than anglican in England.

After talking to my Priest about this, I am concerned about the Priests in Britain.

My Priest said he’s been spat on and wherever he goes, people will shout at him. My Mum is friends with a Priest from London and he gets it even worse. He has to hide his collar when he’s in public.

My sister wants to become a Muslim and now wears a hijab. She likes wearing it because now she gets so much respect when she goes out

Maybe the Anti-Catholicism is not so unrealistic after all…

And of COURSE Muslims now are the Harmless, Religion Of The Day now…

The WikiLeaks cables, from what I understand, are simply a massive collection of just about EVERY single diplomatic communication on a wide range of subjects. A lot of them are filled with speculation and opinions which may or may not be valid. I suspect much of what is in them needs to be taken with a rather large grain of salt.

After all, previously released cables indicate that U.S. diplomats were completely surprised by the election of Cardinal Ratzinger as Pope Benedict XVI. They thought he didn’t have a chance and that a Latin American cardinal would be elected. Which goes to show you how well informed they are about Church matters

Guy Fawkes is an excuse for bonfires and parties.

Actually, born Catholics, I have heard, are not anxious to have a lot of uppity, holier-than-thou former Anglican ‘ordinariates’ become Catholics. It will be interesting to see how they will be integrated into parishes, worshiping at their clubby little churches, with their married former Anglican-priest priests, elegant liturgy, music etc and never straying out to a Novus Ordo mass. I have heard that the celibate RC priests resent their married former-Anglican colleagues. None of this is in my diocese yet.
