It set In motion a 100 year movement, despite Democrat and progressive opposition, to bring our nation to a point we live up to the promise of the Declaration of Independence, protecting individual rights of all Americans.
 
If that were the case then why didn’t it apply equally to all slaves? Why only some of them?

Well, let’s put it this way. It had to start somewhere. Not everyone who lived in that era was as wonderful as the modern woke leftists who tear down statues. Old Abe should have known that no matter what he did it wouldn’t live up to those who judge from a distance.
 
So I take it that you don’t want to answer the question. I understand. The EP was not about freeing slaves. It was about winning an illegal and immoral war.

On what basis do you think the American Civil War was illegal and immoral? Just on the basis that the issue of slavery could supposedly have been settled peacefully?
 
It wasn’t a civil war. It was a war declared by the president, not congress as required by the Constitution, against a foreign nation, The Confederate States of America.

I mourn the loss of our Constitution, Lincoln being the worst of violators of it.

This should be a lesson to conservatives who thought that just removing the “problematic” CSA statues would make these thugs happy. They hate this nation and everything it was founded on. It is Year Zero for them and anyone and anything not meeting their constantly shifting standards needs to be canceled.

They can not be reasoned with, they can not be bargained with, and they will not stop until they have torn down your heroes, metaphorically spat on your ancestors, indoctrinated your children, and taken away your livelihood.

He probably didn’t even need to compensate the slave owners. Slavery would have almost certainly ended in about ten years anyway when British mills started importing Egyptian cotton instead of American. American cotton never recovered and is still heavily subsidized to this day despite the advent of mechanical pickers. The only people who “pick cotton” now are the drivers of the big harvesters sitting in air conditioned cabs listening to CDs and right wing radio.

You forgot about the part where they turn the world grey and line us all up to work for nothing in some dingy factory making manufactured products only the bosses can afford. 🙂
 
Nah, they want us to be able to afford low-rent housing, Netflix so we can catch Cuties 2, and the latest shoddy manufactured product from China shipped via Amazon. They do not want us asking, “Is that all there is to life?”
