There are around 5 parishes in Lorain, Ohio. Have you been to all of them? Are they each reasonable to get to? When did you become Catholic? Was it at the Easter Vigil? Do you know why RCIA is so far away? I have always thought that those received into the Church at Easter continued to go to classes for a few weeks right after Easter too.But sometimes when people talk about the OF they don’t mean “the OF practiced by the book: reverently, beautifully, with a certain profound simplicity” they mean “the OF practiced overmuch with bad music, a bad translation, regularly simplified or omitted rituals, and people playing loosey-goosey with the rules.” I prefer the former over even an EF mass, but the only church that offers it that way, as far as I know, is the same one nearest here with an EF - and it’s 30 miles away. So yes, I’m confused, but really I have much bigger concerns than robotic obedience and “smells & bells”. I want to avoid liberal Catholicism like the plague, being as I am a neophyte trying to form myself in lieu of RCIA (which picks back up in three months and a day.) Not to mention it’s the parish I choose that will attend RCIA classes at, so I better choose well.
Peace be with you!
