Unpack. When someone talks about a subject and they want to look at in more detail…they say they want to unpack it. It’s like nails on a chalkboard every time I hear it!

Viral

(as in “the video went viral!”)

… And “literally” - but that’s been mentioned a few times already.

Historic

(safely interpreted as: achieved before but wasn’t in the news this year)

In the modern Church…‘welcoming’

A lot of the young adults, mainly female, seem to be saying the word

“Perfect”

after I order something or what-not. It irritates me. 👺 I don’t know why. Why am I venting about this? Lol

Hate

Even the mildest disapproval of anything is now “hate.”

And ‘faith community’. And ‘journey’ and I don’t mean the music group.

“Presider’ for priest and ‘gathering song’ aren’t favourites.

And “own your bias’ (ok that’s more work oriented!)

I know it’s two words, but… “new normal”.

And a phrase I use almost all the time now, “This whole Covid thing…”

“I know, right?”

seriously for the past 10 years I hear this phrase endlessly. When did it start?

My 91 year old mother asked me to put in this one:

So.

Virtually every person under 40 starts a conversation thusly.

So I was. . .

So I’m. . .

So there was this. . .

So EVERYTHING!!!

When I see an OP here at CAF beginning with the word “so,” my first reaction is to stop right there and move on to something else.

“I’m like…”
Mary and tuscany are talking to John, and John says, “My friend Mike is going to the store, and I’m like, I want to go too.”
(I have been known to interrupt and ask "Is that similar to …?’).
