Even though I loved Pope Benedict, I think I am going to love Pope Francis even more. Thank you God, for giving us this wonderful human being to be our leader!šŸ™‚

I have heard that somewhere as well, I am not entirely sure if it is true, but I believe it was something along the lines that a cardinal does not technically need to be ordained. But, again, that would need to be double checked. šŸ¤·

I wonder exactly what he means by this
We would become a compassionate NGO and not a Church which is the bride of Christ:confused:

It is kind of funny bringing all of this attention to the fact that the Holy Father is a non European when you remember both of his parents are Italians and as such, by Italian law, he would also considered an Italian citizen, albeit one with a dual nationality.

Yes but I suspect one must at least be a Catholic first. Also cannot imagine this scenario happeningā€¦can you imagine a female Cardinal? Maybe Sr Simone šŸ˜ƒ

I thought that part was very clear, and, to be honest, inspiring. what he is saying is that its not enough to give food to the poor, and help the sick etc. If that is all that we do we are failing. There would be no difference between us and any secular charitable organization, we must also go out and preach Christianty and the love of Christ, and, as he brought up later in his homily, particularly the message of Christ Crucified. šŸ‘

Love him already! As I posted in another thread, a few weeks ago I signed up at the Adopt a Cardinal site, and I was assigned this man. I had never heard of him before, so I started doing some research on him a few weeks ago, and liked what I read about him. Imagine my surprise when ā€œmy cardinalā€ was elected Pope! It must have been the rosary I prayed for him yesterday morning that clinched the deal! šŸ˜ƒ
 
Yes, I love Pope Francis and as I learn more about him my love increases.
 
I am thrilled with everything I have seen and heard so far, and I am looking forward to seeing him in Rome this autumn when I attend the World Oblateā€™s Congress.

This is going to be an example of the charisms of a religious order being allowed to fully express themselves. Not just one order too from what I can see.

I was listening to an interview with Fr. Rosica on the radio driving home from work last night. He was saying that the scandals facing the Church are really failures of holinessā€¦ failures of those involved to be holy. He said that the solution to the problem is not what the mainstream media would expect. The solution he said, was for the Churchā€™s leaders to encounter holiness, and that they will do so in our new Holy Father.

He really strikes me in a fatherly way; firm in what he expects of his sons and daughters, yet warm and tender with them in when they fail to meet his expectations.

I only wish he were younger so we can keep him longer. The Church needs this right now. I had said that what the Church needed and especially the Vatican, was a big dose of humility. I think my prayers (and those of many people I suspect) were answered.

Yes, I do already love our Holy Father. He is a humble servant of God and I believe he is what the Church needs. :highprayer:
 
I am starting to think of taking the bus when I can. I live out in the outskirts of the city and we have notorious poor serviceā€¦howeverā€¦buses do run out hereā€¦
 
A friend of mine who is from Ecuador (and thrilled about Pope Francis of course) sent this to me. I love the strong stance against pro abortion public figures receiving Communion.

The document, which the new Pope presented on behalf of his colleagues at the time and signed of on, referred to abortion and communion, said "we should commit ourselves to ā€˜eucharistic coherenceā€™, that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortion, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals."
