Post your favorite verse from the Bible and give the book, chapter and verse:

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it.” Psalm 118: 24
 
I don’t know why, but many years ago I melted inwardly when I saw a plaque with these words:
Matthew 25:21
Well done, good and faithful servant, because thou hast been faithful over a few things, * enter thou into the joy of thy lord*.

Jesus had His arms outstretched in the heavens ready to embrace his servant, bringing him into His kingdom. I long for that day, and to hear those words! Of course, I bought the plaque and have treasured it for many years.

Exodus 24:6-8:
6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. I like to think of this literally unceasing praising of God, which is His due and is occurring even now.

My favorite is probably Romans 8:38

2 Samuel 7:20 - What more can David say to you? You know your servant, Lord God!

The story goes like this: a long time ago, (in a diocese far, far away :D) I was compiling a list of favorite verses for a youth retreat. However, once the others had sent me their verses, all of my favorites had been taken. So I began to look for a new one, and for some reason, be it divine inspiration or just my own foolishness, I thought I should look up the verses that correspond to my birthday (July 20). So while in a more “chatty” form of prayer with God, I began to flip through the bible until this verse just spoke to me. Personally, I identify very well with David, and not only because he his my namesake, but this verse has always given me a whole lot to meditate on. Truly, what more can I say to God, he knows me better than I know myself. This verse speaks right to my relationship with God, my place in his world, and my role as God’s servant. Anyway, since that time, this is my favorite verse, and I don’t expect that I’ll have to worry about duplicating someone else next time I need to compile a favorite verses list. :o
