At the Mass I attend, most of the parishioners have their hands held out during the Lord’s Prayer. I do notice some family members holding hands. I choose to hold my hands together. What posture do you use?

I lean on the pew/chair in front of me to catch my breath. I often feel lightheaded when I get up at church for some reason. 🤷

I hold my hands out, palms facing up. During Sunday Mass I’m in choir in the loft and we holds hands.

I am holding my missal during the Pater Noster, but if I didn’t then I would hold my hands flat together.

I read once (can’t remember which book, but it was an old book) that only the priest should pray in the orans position during mass since he was the one offering the sacrifice. Has anyone else heard that?

Yes, I have read that as well. At the Traditional Latin Mass, no one does the orans position except the priest, and no one holds hands. I like it better that way personally. I don’t think it is allowed to discuss this here, though, since it leads to arguments.

Most hold hands even across the aisles. Some use other positions as described by others here. Priests, Deacons and altar servers: the same taking the queue from the presiding priest. Me: hands together, waist high.

You don’t have mine - holding onto the pew in front to keep my balance. 🙂

Hands holding a baby, holding a little one, or relaxed by my side.

Generally have my hands clasped together, fingers interlaced, in a gesture of supplication. However, if the person next to me in the pew wants to hold hands, I reach out and hold their hand. I like to make others happy.

If the priest saying Mass wanted to clear up confusion for the congregation on this point, they would do well to speak up, but none ever do.
