quote: ncjohn
It has remained with me for decades.
A senior “devil,” writing letters of instruction, to his young nephew devil,
in terms of how to tempt human beings. The Screwtape Letters.]
Paraphrased:
The thing that is curious, about human beings, nephew,
is that they will say something - deliberatly - to give offense,
yet feel great umbrage - when offense is taken.
This kind of thing can be very confusing - when the one who
gives deliberate offense, then feels offended, in turn - when
the one, who was offended, names this offensive speech
for what it is.

indeed acting without love when they address someone in a way they would not allow themselves, or someone they love, to be addressed.
