Praise be to God--SABER'S BACK!

Oh my gosh…you guys! I have tears in my eyes…reading all of your posts. You are all very special to me. I have been posting here since 2006–can you believe it? I feel like we are extended family, and your concern for Saber touched all of our hearts very much.

Especially your post Eucharisted. It took me a day or so…but I really just handed it all over to God. I was sad…angry even at times…but told God, if it be Your will to return Saber, I’m good with whatever happens.

We do plan to buy our neighbor a nice dinner out on us…gift certificate or something. My husband still wants to get them into Disney–remember, that was the reward? But, he has to wait for his passes to come in the mail. I think a nice dinner out (they have a few little kids running around from what I could tell last night) might be nice for them, and we’ll babysit. (if they let us) We don’t know them all that well…but in all of this, too…we met some really incredible human beings in our neighborhood. For that too, I’m grateful to God.

Glad to hear Saber is back. I missed the original post on this and had to look for it when I saw you post in another thread that he was back!

Coco and Saber can learn to get along but you have to introduce them slowly.

I knooowwww—I’m sitting here typing, and he is right at my feet…ALMOST as if nothing happened.

He looked at us when he saw us on our neighbor’s porch…and didn’t even attempt to run…and when we opened the door to let the other kitty out …he ran up the stairs and looked back down…in fear. So…maybe…he didn’t enjoy the time away all that much…maybe he is different from the rest. lol

When we moved to our new house our cat, Cupcake, tried to go back to the old house all the way across town! Miraculously, after putting an ad in the paper, someone found her and returned her to us. After that, she NEVER ran away again. So Saber just might have learned his lesson about wandering away from home…

This is fantastic news about Saber! I hope he’s none the worse for wear and that your vet can see him promptly.

In the meantime, if you do intend to keep the little stray, at least keep them separated, because the viruses that are so prevalent and deadly in feral cats and strays are very contagious. After all of his adventures, the last thing Saber needs is leukemia or AIDS.

I like to think of the lessons learned from this experience: not to lose faith, trust that God will provide, and, for Saber, home is where the heart is. I’m very happy how it all turned out!

Keep us posted from time to time about his condition. I worry about cats and dogs far, far away that I’ve never met. Just made that way!

Isn’t that amazing, though? Their sense of direction? I was talking to a coworker today who is in love with kitties like me…(she has 7 lol) and she said she read somewhere that cats really ‘love’ their homes more than their owners. lol They are so territorial that they really fall in love with their homes, and their owners come second. It’s funny, Saber has been rubbing himself all over the house…as though he feels he needs to again. He seems a bit more ‘normal’ today but won’t go in any rooms by himself, poor little guy. He follows us everywhere.

Oh, and we are taking the other kitty in at night until the weather lets up. He’s locked in my bedroom, laying on a blanket as I type.

I should open up a cat hotel. :newidea: Maybe not–my dh might leave me. :whacky:

Thank you captbackfire:tada: …we are truly happy over this! I really wonder about this other stray. I am keeping both cats totally separated…Saber has no idea that Coco is even in the house…keeping them on opposite ends if possible. I let Coco out in the morning, and then he finds his way back at night. I’m not sure what to do…take him to the vet too? I don’t intend on making Coco our pet…he really is just a cat we are caring for…and he seems to love being outside during the day.

I say take Coco to the vet and get him basic immunizations and spayed. If you can not afford a regular vet check to see if there is a spay/neuter clinic and have it done there - about 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of a regular vet (they don’t do nearly as much of the care, you have to do the after surgery care). They also do everything from the exam on for a fee, my vet doesn’t charge me for all the services they do but he makes up for it in his other fees.

So pleased to hear Saber’s back.

Not long after he moved in with my girl cat and I my boy disappeared for a few days a couple of times. There was nothing like getting the call my neighbours had seen him and going out and hearing him come in response to my call. The other time he just wandered in as if he hadn’t been away.

My cats adjusted to each other but every so often there’s a little sparring. Sometimes, when I catch them unawares I find then curled up together. They don’t like me to see that though and soon move.

Please give Saber a big pat from me.
