ā€¦and removing all attachment to sin, even venial. Thatā€™s the hard part. If you canā€™t do that, then itā€™s a partial indulgence, which is better than nothing.

Really? !!

So those prayers are for the Pope or are we referring to a specific prayer for the Pope?

For the monthly intentions of the Holy Father. If you have Holy Water, just bless yourself. I heard that removes venial sins.

Greetings Pope Pius IX,

This is the first time that I have ever heard of blessing yourself with Holy Water will remove venial sins. I have seen nothing of the sort in my studies of the Church and Theology. However, it sounds like it could be possible, yet I am not sure that it is correct. If you could post a reference, I sure would appreciate it. I am going to do some reserach on my end as well.

Here. Go to Article 3, it addresses the issue. It also addresses the issue of venial sins forgiven by saying the Our Father and beating ones breast. Its an interesting article, and I hope I did not misinterpret it.

Congratulations and best wishes. I know you have been aching for this for quite awhile. This is the beginning of a long journey nevertheless, one which will require you to continue to study if you want to get the most out of your understanding, and be able to apply it and discuss it. And when you do, you will continue to find the Church a source of grace, comfort, and guidance. Way too many baptized & confirmed Catholics do not know their faith and have created their own ā€œfaithā€ which is more like secular political activism than the Church Jesus founded.

Catholicism is a unity: the history, the theology, the spirituality.
