Again, lets do a comparison: You go about “converting souls to Christ”.

The Cathoilc position is to pray for and “let go and let God”. Not some high pressure tactic that I have eseen so many times in my family, and my life.

BTW it is HIS Church, not ours.

You ARE right about ONE thing, though, Atemi - you SHOULDN’T be coverting ANYONE to your “Churches”. Jesus established only ONE CHURCH.

Would anyone be willing to extend this prayer for Mr. Whites conversion on Friday into a 54 day Rosary novena?
 
And which Christian faith should that be?

I guess the one that eaches Christ isn’t really God; or the one that teaches that miracles can’t happen; or the one that teaches that homosexual acts are fine with God; or the one that teaches that divorce is fine; etc.

Pretty much doesn’t make a difference right? As long as they occasionally reverence christ and refer to some parts of the bible its all good right?

That is a bizarre and illogical opinion. You have no reason for thinking it except your irrational belief that the truth of Catholicism is self-evident.

And you sound very like James White in using this kind of rhetoric. He is convinced that everyone who disagrees with him is suppressing the truth of God or whatever. You as a Catholic don’t need to sign on to this nonsense. Which means that if possible you are even less excusable than he.

People of good faith differ on all sorts of stuff. Get over it.

Furthermore, I can’t see that White misrepresents Catholicism in any blatant way. He interprets it unsympathetically, and in that sense misrepresents it. But he does take care to get the basic facts right, unlike many anti-Catholic polemicists. His problem is that he has bad theology, period.

I know you love to assume that only Roman Catholics are in the Body of Christ, but that fantasy just holds no water…even among wise Catholics.

And if you would then love to assume that James White is somehow outside of the Body of Christ and lost in his sins, thus requiring conversion, then please present the evidence that you magically know this.

Yes. There is only ONE CHURCH, so why you would seek to “convert” people to your denomination and not that ONE CHURCH, is beyond me.

Just for clarification, the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ beginning with a group of disciples and Apostles who lived with him and witnessed his ministry, death, resurrection, ascension, etc. This Church has been in continual existence since that time and its leadership is characterized by an unbroken chain of Apostolic Succession through “laying on of hands”. It is by no means simply “another denomination” among equals.

Protestantism, on the other hand, was formed by a group of men in the 16th century who specfically rejected the authority of the Catholic Church, created new doctrines that were appealing to themselves, and made no effort to maintain valid succession or sacraments.

Because the Church (first called “the way” then known as “Christian” and by 110 AD called “Catholic”) exists, those who receive the sacrament of baptism are members of this one true Church - in varying degrees of communion.

It is our prayer that all Christians would embrace the fullness of the revealed truth of the faith by learning and conforming with all that the Catholic Church teaches concerning the gospel.

Why are we praying for Mr. White? Is he a false teacher or a cult leader?

It is to me because I’ve seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

It isn’t to you, most likely, because you have some other “denominational” affiliation, because you haven’t seen anything to convince you that it is.

Mr White has been following this thread. On his website he states this:

Over on the Catholic Answers forums a thread has developed calling for a day of fasting and prayer for my conversion to Roman Catholicism. I would like to encourage Christians to spend time in prayer asking God to draw to Himself His people who are currently trapped in the Roman system…

To state that Catholic Christians are “trapped in the Roman system” is uncharitable indeed. But with all due respect, many uncharitable things are directed at Mr White fairly often on this forum. We do not need to pray for his conversion–the Lord takes care of the conversion of hearts. Just simply pray for him. Everyone needs prayer.
