He is a Christian who converted from Islam. Now he is on trial in Afghanistan. If convicted he will be executed. What about freedom of religion or no compulsion in religion? He was offered clemency if he reconverted to Islam (yeah out of fear of death). He refused. God bless him. If they kill him he will be a real martyr.

PS: I wonder if pro and his ilk will protest his trial and execution?

www.foxnews.com right on the front page. Check the latest news headlines section. Can’t miss it. But being from Pakistan, where he coverted, you should know that it’s true.

Yeah, he can move to the west AFTER he’s been arrested - sheesh! I cannot believe that ‘rejecting Isam’ is a crime in Pakistan - so much for Islamic respect for other religions.

It is a little late now.
Afghanistan’s constitution is based on Shariah law, which states that any Muslim who rejects their religion should be sentenced to death.
“We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law,” the judge said. “It is an attack on Islam. … The prosecutor is asking for the death penalty.”
This litte segment I found interesting. What is the Shariah Law?

Thats the government not Islam.

is there a petition that can help or something?

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me

Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.

Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.”
If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."

**
Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. (Rev 20:6)**

:amen:

Suppose we could start up a petition of our own, eh inJesus?
Start a new thread here and get people to add their names (and addresses?) and then forward it to the governments/embassies.

do you know how to start one? and do you think it works with such people?

Does anyone know if this guy is Catholic. And What is the Shariah Law?

I edited my last post to show how it could be done. Amnesty International’s main task is petitioning in such cases, and it’s successful surprisingly often, especially if people get their own goverments involved as well.

Shariah Law is the Islamic legal code - it can be used to specifiy how countries and their governments should be run according to Islam.

I had to post about this on my blog:
I’ve been observing lent during March. Thankfully, I can do so free from reprisals in this country. People who choose not to observe lent are also free from reprisals.
Meanwhile, a Christian in Afghanistan is not so blessed. Abdul Rhaman, who has admitted to converting to Christianity, is facing the death penalty for being a traitor to Islam. His own family turned him in. The Middle East times has a photo of the most damaging evidence against him - his bible.
So Islam once again demonstrates it is not the religion of peace, but is the religion of intimidation and fear.

But no, no one is in danger from peaceful Islam. I can’t wait to hear Pro’s defense of this! It oughtabe…interesting? I don’t care if he’s Catholic or not, he’s Christian and I will pray that God gives him the strength to endure his martyrdom. There is no difference between this guy and the early Christians who died at the hands of Imperial Rome.

if there is anything we can do to stop this atrocity please help…we’re looking for an existing petition…what can be done??
we should try to demonstrate the atrocity of such a commandmant to kill apostates.

Can the Muslims here tell us if you believe converting from Islam to Christianity should be punishable by death or do you join us in condemning such a sentence?

Amen…Bless you

Like Jesus said : they will persecute us, thinking they are doing it for God.
