Right now, I was watching Mother Angelica on EWTN … she is very calming and reinforcing.

Rather than being concerned with root causes … replace all that with new thinking.

Mother Angelica is wonderful.

Consider adding her to your regular television viewership.
 
Prayer for Overcoming Insecurity

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your grace is so powerful. Your love is beautiful. Your presence is peaceful. Thank You for today, for giving us time, for giving us precious life to do Your will, and for giving us people to love. Sometimes my own skewed perspective of myself hinders me from doing things. I need courage. I need to be less insecure. Please deliver me from my insecurities. Lord, I ask that You help me to view myself as You see me. I pray that I will see myself as valuable, worthy, lovely, and beautiful. I pray for myself and for others who battle insecurities. Be our strength and help us overcome in Jesus’ name AMEN!

Praying for your intention. I too have suffered with this issue. I was born with a physical defect which didn’t help much either. None of that matters though. You are worthwhile not because of what you do, what you have, or what others say about you, or even how you think of yourself, but because you are the beloved daughter or son of God.

Remember, your insecurity helps make you who you are. We think that if we were this calm, confident person then all our problems would go away. I doubt that is true. You would still have problems. You would still be selfish and sin. Having confidence doesn’t take those things away. If I had, had more confidence I might have gotten myself into a lot more trouble or sins. It is God’s love that truly changes us. It is his love that gives us the confidence to love others. Without God in my life I would not a stand a chance of loving others. I would probably become bitter and even more selfish than I am now. It is important to have a Christian community that you can be apart of and who can help you to become a more loving person. Because it is in that relationship to others that we are truly challenged and helped to love. It is in that community that we are pulled out of ourselves. This is something that many, if not all, of us could not accomplish on our own. Our conversion is bigger than ourselves alone. We need the help of others in community.

Also, shyness is not always a bad thing. I think it was G. K. Chesterton who said the world could use a little more shyness.

G. K. Chesterton was always turning our preconceived notions on their heads. For example, a famous saying of his is, “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.”

Lord, our God, You graciously chose St. Dymphna
as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional,
and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration
and a symbol of charity to the thousands
who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure
youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering
such trials, and especially those for whom we pray.

We beg You, Lord, to hear the prayers
of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those
for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and
resignation to Your divine will. Please fill them with hope,
and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,
