i admit that i still struggle with porn… i’ve insulted God countless times with porns and masturbates… but, when i watch porns, i saw that the women in those videos is actually don’t wanna do that… it’s like they’re sort of suffering… and i’m sure that no woman ever wanna be like that… then, when i think they’re suffering by doing those porns, i wanna pray for them so God will, someday, change their lives and give them decent life… life as humans and not like animals like in those porn videos…

i know this sounds crazy but i wanna ask what’s the others opinions about this?

I have many temptations, but porn isn’t one of them. Want to be clear about that. I also think that, sadly, some women don’t have a problem with being in porn movies and view it as “just a job.” I do agree though that many women are forced into because of addiction, trafficking, poverty…

Frankly, I think you are a a really good person for praying for them. Too often in our society we forget that it’s not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick. God bless you.

I like to offer the 2nd sorrowful mystery of the rosary (the scourging at the pillar – the spiritual fruit is purity) for people and situations like this. By all means, yes – I often pray for people that struggle with trying to quit porn, but we absolutely should pray for porn stars or people that work in the sex industry, too. Your observations about these women (and men too) are correct, whether they are consciously aware of it or not.

Many do it voluntarily - they’re lured by the money, which is both very good, and obtainable without any education. Some are unrepentant years later long after the dollars have ceased rolling in.

Pray for them, sure, but candidly I have a lot more sympathy for those suffering from things like job loss; health problems; accidents, etc., i.e., People who have misfortune that’s not caused by their own awful choices.

“job loss”

What about those women who are out of work (like in the present economic situation) cannot pay their bills and, feeling that they have no other recourse, turn to porn or prostitution to put food on their family’s table? I cannot judge such a person. What they are doing is wrong, but I do not know the depth of their despair.

We are NOT talking prostitutes who have to feed their kids: We’re talking porn stars, which has 2 ends: The porn, and the star. We’re talking cosmetic surgery; drugs; the “adult video awards;” easy cash; and willingly associating with pornographers - a great group, they.

We always have a choice not to do what’s morally repugnant. Being a porn star certainly IMHO is a compilation of many, many wicked, and, dare I say it, evil choices. Do some women get lured in? Feel they have no other options? I’m sure it happens. But sleep with like 400 men? In front of a camera? Sorry, I DO judge those actions, harshly, as should we all.

A gal I dated years ago said something to me once, I never forgot: “There comes a point in most women’s lives where they make a decision - ‘am I going to get ahead with my brains, or with my body?’” I think she was correct, and I’m sorry, I find myself lacking sympathy for women who consciously choose the latter course of conduct, let alone over and over and over again.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

And yet they may be in even more need of our prayers, exactly because they made such bad choices.

Not many would think this way - I mean praying for porn stars.!!!

Go ahead, and be the change you want to see in this society.

Every woman involved in porn needs our prayers, they are ALL trapped by Satan’s snare. Some are forced, some are tempted by lust or greed, either way they deserve equal prayers as they are ALL children of God. Let us not be harsh on anyone except to the source of the evil that ruins so many lives, Satan. No woman is going to stop doing porn because she is judged harshly, it is ONLY by Light that they can see their way out of the darkness. Let us all reflect that Light, and love every child of God as He does, perfectly and infinitely.

VERY MUCH AGREE WITH THIS!! MORE OR LESS, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN!! 🙂

Disagree: By the four corners of your post, we should not be “harsh” on anyone other than Satan. Should I not be harsh on child molesters? Drug lords? Murderers? We’re not Quakers sitting around refusing to judge actions.

Want to pray for porn stars? Be my guest. But we can’t pray for everyone & everything needing prayers because there isn’t time! A prayer list may be:

–My family & friends;
–Our troops;
–Our politicians;
–World peace;
–Those impacted by COVID;
–Kids in orphanages;
–Animals in shelters;

etc., etc.!

Want to put porn stars on the list? Sure! Add them too!

But candidly they’re down the list on mine.

I don’t purport to know why women get into porn, let alone leave it, but I actually have no problem judging their actions harshly, and if things like shame or embarrassment get them out of the business, why is that a bad thing? It’s reality. As I say, pray for them, fine. I’m not saying don’t do that. What I am saying is, many of these folks are hardened and unrepentant and we should not be blind to who thet are and the fact they usually make many deliberate choices that lead them to where they are.

I think the field that everyone seems to be overlooking is that of performer-created porn. These performers are almost invariably not motivated by desperation nor even by the prospect of making very much money out of what they do. They are usually well educated middle-class people who produce porn for fun, as an artistic expression, and, last of all, as a small business.

I’m thinking of someone like Pandora Blake, who was in the media quite a bit when Iived in the UK. As I understand it, she apparently has degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge, including a master’s degree. You can guess from her accent that she comes from a privileged background. Seemingly, she has genuinely chosen this career, not because it’s her only way of making money, or even the most lucrative career available to her, but because she likes making porn.

None of this is to say that it’s moral to produce one’s own porn, but we need to remember that not everyone is motivated by desperation or greed.

I have often wondered why women enter the industry (were they sexually abused growing up?, etc.). I do pray for the purveyors of it and its many victims, including all those on these forums. Does anyone know of any ‘actors’ who left the industry for moral reasons or a conversion experience? (someone else to pray for – can you imagine the shame and regret they feel?)

There used to be a protestant group called “xxx church” who ministered to porn stars, and I think at least one prominent porn star left through them. There’s a video on youtube I think if you search for it. I guess be careful though because other stuff could come up too.
I was always a little torn with regards their methods though - going to porn conferences and stuff to witness. Seemed like an occasion of sin to me.

That seems cold to me. Jesus didn’t take that attitude with prostitutes. Love and prayer is what wins conversion, not shame and guilt.

I understand where you’re coming from, but you have to take into account that a large number of women (and men) in porn truly had no other choice. I work in law enforcement, and I can tell you that a significant number enter and remain in that field completely unwillingly. Nevertheless, one can argue that those who did make the conscious decision are in even more need of prayers, as their souls are likely in greater danger than those who were forced into the sex industry. I also don’t buy the argument that there isn’t enough time to pray for everyone. Sure, we can only consciously hold so many intentions in our minds at one time, but it takes nothing to ask God to bless and aid “anyone else in need of grace” at the end of our prayers.
