Just to remind us who we are praying for.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is an Iranian woman on death row in Iran for adultery.
She was first tried in 2006, she pleaded guilty. Husband had died before all this occurred.
She was sentenced to whipping of 99 lashes which was carried out.
Another court , another conviction a few months later and she was sentenced to death by stoning. Later she is said to have retracted her confession to the crime claiming it was made under duress.
A campaign by her two children succeeded in halting her execution in July this year but not in overturning the death sentence.
On July 31, 2010 the president of Brazil offered to give asylum to this lady but it was rejected.
It seems that the death by stoning has been stayed, but she still faces death by hanging…
