Actually, so far I haven’t seen a willingness to do anything other than tell us Marian Devotion is an abomination from linkowski… 😦
Maybe you are right. But you may want to know that there are probably others with the same questions as Linkowski who would like to get the Catholic take on this, and are following this thread (even if they aren’t posting).

Direct your rebuttals to them with charity and love, and they may come to more fully appreciate the Catholic teachings.

So Linkowski, if you have ever asked any one for any thing, YOU HAVE PRAYED TO THEM.
So, if Link has prayed to them, and by his own admission, prayer = sacrifice = worship, then does that mean that Link worships false gods?😉

 Excuse me, but can you please point out to me where I’ve been rude or uncharitable in my “rebuttals”? It seems to me that you may want to at least take a look through the thread before criticizing me… I’ve only posted twice so far in this thread and neither of my comments have been rude or uncharitable. As you can very well see, Linkowski is not interested in learning from us… she/he has only been pointinf out why this is an evil practice from their very first post. Pardon me for pointing that out – if you really are offended by that, I’ll be more than happy to keep the thoughts to myself.

…when you say things like he said…you are yielding completely to Mary and this is terribly unbiblical. I am sorry that you do not like that.
Link,

Stop reading the words…understand the meaning.

In his prayer, John Paul II is asking to be as much like our Blessed Mother as possible… Why? Because she is in perfect unity with God, with her most Holy Son, and with the Holy Spirit. By her example, she leads other to know her Son. She seeks no glory; self described as a “handmaid of the Lord.”

That is what the prayer is all about. He (JP II) wanted to be so totally united to Jesus Christ, he wanted to imitate the one person that most completely loved the Son totally, utterly, with out sin for the whole of her life.

Our Blessed Mother is the perfect model of God’s design for humanity. She is the measure that we should aspire.

Maria, ora pro nobis!

Easy, New Guy. I’m not chastising. And believe me, your thoughts are welcome on this forum, especially from someone wanting to learn more, like me!!!

If you’ve seen, I’ve been occupied in this thread as well. I agree with you that Link is here just to chastise. There is no argument there. When I post rebuttals to the likes of him, I don’t stoop to that level because of the reasons I specified.

I’m very sorry NewGuy if it looked like I was jumping on you, for I certainly didn’t intend to. But again, I just want to (gently) remind everyone that for every Link out there, there are many many more who are more openly curious.

I love you guys!!!

I agree… I had a great few threads when I first joined…and I’m still reading the books people recommended me… and if I’d read some of these posts to start with… even though I know they are honest feelings… the tone and overwhelming nature of it would have scared me offline completely even if i was just a bystander in the thread lol

I think I posted a link to my last thread to link so s/he can read that if they want as it answered a lot of my questions.

I have only read two pages of this thread and so I am not quite sure if the Catechism has been referenced?

**2679 - **Mary is the perfect *Orans *(pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus’ mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope.

I showed you very clearly from scripture that prayer is a sacrifice…what you choose to do is reject that Word. Praise, thanksgiving…SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES.

1 Peter 2:5 KJV 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

But you do not care to study anything about that nor accept the message from it (scripture).

Sacrifice is worship
.You wish…There is nothing in that passage that supports your assertion.

The fact is that we disagree with your interpretation…not the scriptures.

Link,

Maria, ora pro nobis!Craig doesn’t want us to be right…he might have to admit that he messed up and come home.

No one likes to discover that they are wrong or that they have been misled because they feel foolish, (I know…I’ve been there when I reverted!). Moreover, no one wants to believe that someone else with a Bible seems to have deliberately misled them. It made me mad…

Being true to most of the antagonists on this forum, our friend Linkowski seems to have vanished on this thread.
Kick up the dust, then cut and run when they have nothing more to add.
Antagonism for antagonism’s sake is surely not a Christian virtue . . .

ok, I see how you feel about this… but this isn’t really helping any kind of dialogue is it???

S/he obviously wants to learn something from you to be here.

S
Does he really want to learn or is he here just to wage a holy jihad?

He has been weighed,
he has been measured,
he has been found to be wanton…

BTW, where is he?
ok ok lol… i just am maybe more naive than you guys lol… I hope i don’t end up old and cynical all the time one day though 🙂

point taken 🙂

Word semantics!

Pray
Worship
Sacrifice

Repent
Penance

All this words can be twisted out of context…remember a text taken out of context is a pretext…

I am a slave of Mary!
I wear a chain around my neck to remind me that everything I do think or say belongs to my Queen! (no it is not some cumbersome, ugly thing thing out of the dark ages, it is a pretty little silver chain that I have had blessed.)

I think that this is indeed a faith journey that one must make oneself and pray about. I have read and reread the True devotion to Mary time and time again. I use this book for my morning meditation. Of Mary there is never enough…de Mariam num quam satis!

What God’s own Son did I will attempt o imitate…He made the journey to us Through His Mother…I will consider it an honor to return to Him in the same fashion.
