Pray Without Ceasing

I started this thread about a month ago for the affirmation of my own faith and for seeking your prayer support.

All the time I was holding up a very positive expectation, hoping that my mother would make it, hoping I would come back here to announce the good news that my mother was recovered.

She did make progress. But situation went down hill couple days ago. After so much suffering, my mother passed away last night.

God is in control. I thank God for His will be done.

Thank you again for your kindness.
Please say a prayer for my mother’s reposed soul.

Before I was heading to California for my mother’s funeral, I went to visit Pat at her home before her hip replacement surgery. Pat is 71, a fellow parishioner who has developed good friendship with me. She once joked and hinted that she could be my American Mom.

I went to visit her in hospital after her surgery, she was doing fine. She said she was to call me and let me know which rehabilitation home she would be temporarily staying. Last Friday when I got home from work, instead of her message, I got a message on my answering machine from her daughter, informing me Pat was in ICU.

I went to visit her in ICU while she was in induced coma. She was on ventilator, having tubes all over. That sight was just like my mother. My heart was so saddened and felt it was too much to take in.

I have solicited many people’s prayer from our church to pray for Pat. I am hoping you will also kindly pray for Pat’s healing and recovery. God’s will is to heal people’s sickness and disease. Unless it is time for a person to go home, God always wants to heal the sick person. However, prayers for that sick person make all the difference in his recovery.

Well I definitely know it was the Holy Spirit now that brought you to mind this morning InLight - I was washing up and you just came to mind and I said a little prayer for you. Now I know it was for you and your friend Pat.

Thank God you have faith to believe in miracles. People don’t seem to pray for them anymore. The dangerous thing is when a person does pray for them and then the miracle doesn’t happen… it can do a number on a preson’s faith… But then, when that happens to me, i just remember the other miracles I’ve experienced/heard about and then there is the greatest miracle of all, one we take for granted… life itself… 🙂

Excellent point Distracted:thumbsup: We also have to remember that God ALWAYS answers our prayers, but sometimes His answer is no!

InLight, I know what it is like to have troubles come in waves like that. My mom used to say “it always comes in three’s”. But they are only waves, just like the storm prior to Jesus calming the seas. We are not perishing. Let the winds howl, the sea turn, the calm will come. “This too shall pass”, prayers for you and your friend, Tim

Yes… and sometimes that No sounds like I Don’t Love You :eek:
It is difficult to have faith sometimes… but there is something in the Bible about not judging a situation until its over… I wish i could find it…🤷

Tim, thanks for your encouragement and prayers.

I serve different groups in my church and know bunch of people.
Pat does not belong to any of the groups but she is the best friend in the parish. If she did not see me at Saturday Mass, she would call me. We share things with each other. She really cares for me and I for her. Even we are ages apart, we become good friends. It was very hard when I first learned about her bad news. Pat expected to have a good surgery and fully recover. We have prayed for her success way in advance. She said she felt good about it. But what did we know? Only God knows what lies ahead.

I always believe in miracles. I always believe only God can say the last word. Before then we should always hold up our faith and believe the best turn out. Without faith, we cannot please God.

There will be sadness but there is no danger. Or should I say I am doing my best not to allow such a danger as you mentioned.

I think when we pray for a miracle, we ought to have the attitude of “Thy Will be done”.
We ask for miracle on the top of God’s will.
While asking, we believe it will come through, without a shadow of doubt. When the miracle does not come, as long as we still stand on God’s will, we will not lose our foundation.
As long as it is God’s will, it should be the best.
 
I will keep you, your mother, Pat and her family and friends in the Living Prayer of my life.
 
Please continue to lift Pat up in your kind prayer.

Pat’s daughter called last night said Pat’s situation was not good but doctor still has hope. She mentioned that another parishioner went to visit and made a comment,“She looks real bad.” That upsets Pat’s daughter very much. I am sure that parishioner meant well. But her straightforward comment hurts. We all need to be mindful of our words. Careless honesty could be hurtful even it is the fact.

Nobody looks good in a johnie.🙂 Ever wear one of those? I’m sure Pat is not affected because of the grace that surrounds her. I think it is harder on the loved ones then on the patient. The patient only has to get better, everyone else is fumbling around trying to say the right thing. When I was sick with cancer, I felt bad for how uncomfortable people were, so I wore my boonie hat when I was in the hospital to lighten things up and cover my bald head. Hang in there and continued prayers for Pat and loved ones. Tim
