**Prayer for Seminarians
**
O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood.

Enlighten the Bishop in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Director in molding them, and the professors in instructing them.

Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps; so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom and heroes of sacrifice; steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man; apostles of Your glory and sanctifiers of souls.

Amen.

Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us.

Saint Charles Borromeo, pray for our seminarians.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.

Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of the Church, grant to these seminarians the necessary wisdom, guided by the Holy Spirit, to succeed and the grace to persevere. Enlighten them in their studies, help them in their difficulties and sustain them in their struggles to be faithful. O Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption, intercede on their behalf. Help them imitate you in saying their own unconditional “yes” to the ministry of love and divine election to which The Lord calls them. We ask all this in the name of our Heavenly Father. Amen.
 
*** Lord Jesus, once You called the first disciples in order to make them fishers of men. Continue to let resound today Your sweet invitation:

" Come and follow Me."

Grant to young men and women the grace of responding promptly to Your voice. Sustain our Bishops, priests and consecrated souls in their apostolic work. Give perseverance to our seminarians and to all who are fulfilling the ideal of a life of total consecration to Your service. Enkindle in our communities a missionary zeal. Send, Lord, workers into Your fields and do not let mankind be lost because of a lack of pastors, missionaries, and people dedicated to the cause of the Gospel. Mary, Mother of the Church, model of vocations, help us say “yes” to the Lord who calls us to collaborate in the divine design of salvation. Amen. †

A Prayer for a Seminarian

God our Father,
Thank you for calling this young man to prepare for priesthood. Grant him the grace to grow closer to You through daily prayer.

Help him form his personality as a credible witness to others. Bless him while he studies Your word and the teachings of the Church, and give him a generous heart to serve Your people.

We ask this through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our great High Priest.

O Blessed Lady of the Tears,
we entrust and consecrate the priesthood
to your Immaculate Heart!
During this time of trial and suffering,
we pray that you renew the priesthood
by making priests holy
in imitation of the Heart of the Good Shepherd.
We pray in reparation for the sins of the priesthood
and we pray for all victims of their sins.
Grant, O Lady of the Tears,
an outpouring of the Holy Spirit
on the priests
that they may be authentic witnesses
of your Son Jesus Christ Our Lord.
May we wipe away your tears
by comforting your Immaculate Heart
by praying the rosary
and adoring the Heart of Jesus your Son
in the Most Holy Eucharist
present in every Catholic Church in the world.
Give all priests and seminarians
a deep love and devotion to Jesus
in the Eucharist and to you,
their loving Mother.
Grant that every priest and seminarian
will daily spend one hour with Jesus in the Eucharist
and daily pray your most holy rosary!
Grant all priests and seminarians the gift of purity,
the gift of chastity
and the gift of the divine love of your Son.
May they proclaim the truth without fear,
with love and with courage!
We ask all of our prayers through the Tears
which you shed at the foot of the cross
of Jesus Christ your Son
who lives and reigns with the Father
and the Holy Spirit!

PRAYER FOR SEMINARIANS

We praise you, merciful Father, for sending your Son into the world to free us from sin, and enrich us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To continue his mission he sent his apostles, the bearers of his love, to proclaim the Gospel to all peoples and offer believers new life through Baptism and the Eucharist.

Look kindly, Lord, on the men who train for the priesthood, especially in the mission churches. Inspire them with perseverance and courage so that they may reach their goal of ordination and continue the work of the apostles in today’s world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
