***Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

~ Prayer to the Sacred Heart for Perseverance ~

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and life-giving fountain of eternal life,
infinate treasure of the Divinity, and glowing furnace of love, You are
my refuge and my sanctuary. O adorable and glorious Savior,
consume my heart with that burning fire that ever inflames Your Heart.
Pour down on my soul those graces which flow from Your love.
Let my heart be so united with Yours that our wills may be one, and
mine may in all things be conformed to Yours. May Your Will be the
rule of both my desires and my actions. Amen.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not, but have you been in touch with the
“Coming Home” network? If so, maybe if your wife could speak to someone who has
been in her shoes, it might help. I can understand how much of her “world” will be
disrupted by your conversion. I have not been there, but I have been in a situation
where my “world” changed so much, I had little left (however, the most important
thing that remained was my faith, my Church) to recognize. Most of my friends,
my activities, my livelihood, changed. My children were “out of the nest” as well.
I look back and remember that it was very scary, but it led to so many blessings
I would not have appreciated in my old “world”! I thank God for guilding me through
it all.
I know that the Lord will have so much for your wife in her new world and she is
not losing her family, her husband, her children. I hope she gets the courage to
know that.
I have added your intentions to my prayer list. God bless!

Steve, God has brought you by the Holy Spirit to Holy Mother Church.
Stand strong in what you face and rely on the power of God. I do believe
that most, not all, converts to the faith have gone through some very
rough times, including myself. Specially with friends and members of my
old church. Were praying for you and your family. Gods grace be with you.

“Prayer for Fortitude”

Dear Jesus, lay your wounded hand upon my weary head, and teach me
to have courage in the paths I must tread. Bless me, and bless those whom
I love, and give us grace to see these crosses bravely borne by us will
keep us close to thee. And if at times a shadow falls in unexpected ways,
put Your gentle hand in mine and guidde me through the days. So bless
my people, one and all, with thy protecting grace, and impart to them Thy
Wisdom, ere they meet Thee face to face. Amen.

God Bless you and your family…*

Thanks to all here for the continued prayers. I don’t have the body sores and I haven’t lost all my children in a house collapse, but I sure feel like Job. I was led to believe that a Diocesan Administrator would have no trouble in resolving the request of my wife (up or down) for a dispensation from notifying her abusive ex in an anulment procedure - but now my spiritual advisor thinks that it may have to wait for a new Bishop to be appointed (6-8 months from now) and then who knows how long after that because the new Bishop will have a ton of requests and getting to know folks, and my little anulment request seems to keep finding its way to the bottom of the pile.

Then last night at counseling, my dearest let on that I was selfish for wanting to convert to Catholicism given that not only does it require a job change for me with most likely a drop in pay, but that our family has to leave the parsonage house we live in (and likely move to a trailer we can afford, meaning having to give up a number of the possessions we’ve aquired), and leaving our worshipping community of 7 1/2 years which she figures will end in a loss of friendships as well (even though I’ve agreed to wait at least a year before being public locally about my conversion). Three weeks ago we had all the compromises worked out and now its like we’re back to square one.

I’m not to the point of telling God I wish I never had been born, but oy, I’m already 43, I don’t think I can survive another 39 years in the wilderness. I asked my spiritual advisor about what happens if the dispensation doesn’t come through and I’m not able to receive the sacraments, and then God forbid, I die. He said I would still be in a state of grace. But I’m not sure I’m in a state of grace now. So how can that be accurate?

Steve i am sorry for your troubles. How very special you are the Lord has called you.Your mind has been opened to the Lord’s will.Trust in the Lord have patience it will happen.

Acts 22:14
And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”(Mark 10:29-30, Luke 18:29-30, and Matthew 19:29).

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Tex Catholic,

I have been in contact with the Journey Home Network for sometime. Unfortunately, my wife isn’t interested in talking with anyone from there. More time will need to pass before something like that can be helpful.

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

What am I to do? Things go from bad to worse. Not only am I told by my wife that I am selfish for wanting to convert (which she again tells me she wants no part of and implies that she resents me for hoping/praying she would convert too) but now tonight I am told that I don’t put her at the center of my life because of my need to be obedient to God (which puts God before her). When I ask are we not, according to Jesus himself, supposed to put God first, then she says in effect, "But how do I know you are being called by God to convert to Catholicism? Then when I try to share more of the substance of why, she doesn’t want to hear it, because in the past I’ve lost patience with her lack of feedback and thinking things through and her defensiveness, and because she “doesn’t want another 45 minute lecture.” I tell her in all tender honesty I don’t want to lecture her, I simply want a dialogue but she doesn’t believe me because she thinks its merely to convert her. I tell her If I am so wrong, then show me where because I only want to know the truth, God’s truth. Then she begs off saying she isn’t so schooled. I say, that’s fine, find someone who is and have them convince me. She offers a Baptist pastor we knew growing up. I say that’s fine, but he is going to have issues with teachings in the Lutheran faith already, so it doesn’t make sense to go to a Baptist pastor. Then she offers my colleague pastors, but if I go to them, I am afraid one or more will put me at risk with the Bishop of our synod and that will send things spiraling. I feel so stuck between a rock and a hard place. Why won’t God just come to my wife in a dream like he did for Joseph when he was about to dismiss Mary? That would settle it all. I don’t want a sign for me, just for her. Is that too much to ask?

Steve my personal feeling is leave the pressure off your wife.Concentrate on your own conversion. One step at a time so to speak.God will find a way THE way for your wife in His own good time.Be an example to her of Christian Catholic at its most humble and best and in her own good time if she is called to she will seek to convert also.Pray to teh Lord for patience and perseverance.MY best wishes to you both God bless

Lord Jesus Christ, most merciful Saviour of the world, we humbly beseech You, by Your most Sacred Heart, that all the sheep who stray out of Your fold may in one days be converted to You, the Shepherd and Bishop of their souls, who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end.
Amen.
