Prayer for Priests

Prayer for Priests

Almighty God, look upon the face of Jesus who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today‘s world. They are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You so the enemy may not prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray You to help Your faithful and fervent priests; for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are young; for those who are dying; and for those who are in purgatory.

But, above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me, the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who gave me Your body and blood in Holy Communion; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to who I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests.

[po18guy]

Father in Heaven, we beseech You to smile upon Your servant Priests this day, strengthening them for the holy service which they provide. Grant them the encouragement and accompaniment of Your Most Holy Spirit, so that they will fear nothing of this earth. Graciously reveal Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, alive in their hands at the consecration. Grant them well trained tongues, that, through Your same Spirit, they may speak your loving, guiding and comforting words to those whom they serve. Grant this, O loving Father, through our petitions to the same Son, our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Prayer for Priests

Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.

As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,
holy people. Amen.

Father in Heaven, we thank you and we praise Your Holy Name for the blessing of Priests who perpetuate the Church which Your Son founded for our sake. You are the source of all goodness and light in the universe. We have our very being due to Your kindness, and without You we have but nothingness and unending sorrow. We lift Your servant Priests up to You, begging You to strengthen them against the assaults of the evil one, whose sole desire is utter destruction of all that is good. Graciously accompany Your servants at all times, calling them ever closer in love and illumining their spirits and intellects with light from on high. Grant that Your Priests remain ever faithful, falling deeper in love with Your Blessed Son. May His presence daily renew their sprits as they minister to the multitude of hearts which surround them. Out of mercy, breathe Your Holy Spirit upon them, granting them an overflowing measure of His gifts. We ask this through Your Risen Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Your everlasting covenant Who is made present to us in the hands of Your loving Priests. Amen! Alleluia!

[Trishie]

On behalf of priests, I pray:

Thy kingdom come amongst my people

God, unite me with the good Shepherd who is loving, wise, faithful and vigilant. Make creative use of the person I am and through grace may become. Where I cannot achieve what is required, please supply what is needful. Use me as a human witness of Your living gospel to others. Let Your kingdom of the Spirit come among the souls You entrust to me.

As I minister to Your people, I bring them truths divergent from this world’s logic, so allow Your Holy Spirit to convey Your gospel to them through me. Lead me to best use of modes of communication to convey Your love and truth. Be manifest in my cheerful personality, my wise instructions, my writing, preaching and conversation, through my body language in its subtleties, so that others are always drawn to You through me.

In my strengths and limitations, minister to others through me. Do not let my failures discourage me, for there is much to be done between sowing and reaping, and the harvest depends upon Your nurture. Your warmth and rain blesses my labour and its fruits may manifest only in Heaven!

With each experience and observation, make me a more sensitive instrument of Your love. Left to myself, I can err in countless ways, and even harm, or alienate another person from You.

To those You entrust to my shepherding, please give growing awareness of the ceaseless operation of Your grace. Let them realise that their lives are held continually in Your love. Give them faith that You can heal, purify and make whole (sanctify) each willing person, however ‘lowly’, in the ordinary human realities of life.

Give trust and fidelity to anyone willing to assist me with prayer and support…I ask the intercession of our sisters and brothers in Heaven, and the holy Angels, guardians of humankind! Do not forget us whom God loves and creates for Himself. He seeks to lead us into communion with you also…So profoundly love and cherish us—in guidance, intercession and blessing—that the tide of God in our lives ever swells with your tremendous reservoir of merit and grace, and above all, with the merit of our Redeemer.

Jesus, grant us the graces of Your kingdom brought to reign amongst us! Let Your name be glorified and Your will be completed in us! Meet our spiritual and temporal needs, personal and communal. Forgive us our offences as we forgive others, by giving us Your forgiveness and compassion for each other. Protect us from sin and danger so that we shine as Your living word to all people. This I ask of You in praise and thanksgiving, Jesus, good Shepherd, whose steward I am.

Father in Heaven, we pray that You will continue to guide, with Your Hand, the Priests who serve you around this earth. You have created them; You have commissioned them, and You have sent them forth to do Your Will. Graciously support them, O loving Father, with graces from above, so that they may long serve You well. We ask this through our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
