Lord, You sent Your Son as a servant of the entire world. We beseech you to grant, to those whom You have chosen, a special protection from the evils of this life. May their spirituality well up to an all-consuming love of You; an all-consuming desire to serve You by serving those who surround them. Fill their hearts with love as Your Son carefully watches over them. Grant them the gifts of Your Holy Spirit, to animate their faith. Restore their spirits, that they may persevere in keeping Your Son’s commands. By their fine example, Lord, may many young hearts be called to service, both in Holy Orders as well as in the consecrated life. We ask this through the same Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Prayer for Priests

Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.
As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,
holy people.

Prayer for Priests

Almighty God, look upon the face of Jesus who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today‘s world. They are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You so the enemy may not prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray You to help Your faithful and fervent priests; for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are young; for those who are dying; and for those who are in purgatory.

Above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me, the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who gave me Your body and blood in Holy Communion; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to who I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen

Father in Heaven, may your Son’s winnowing fan keep the flame of love alive in the hearts of Your servant priests. We pray that You are ever guarding them, to keep them faithful to Your will. Grant them a daily portion of fortitude so that they can steadily preach against the onslaught of this world. Lord, as You do, we also depend upon them for the furtherance of the faith. By their steady example, may many men be called to betroth themselves to the Church. We ask this through the intercession of Your only Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
