Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.
As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,

Prayer of St. John Chrysostom

Divine Savior Jesus Christ, Who hast entrusted the whole work of Thy Redemption, the welfare and salvation of the world, to priests as Thy representatives, I offer Thee through the hands of Thy most holy Mother, all the prayers, works, sacrifices, joys and sorrows of this day for the sanctification of Thy priests.

Give us truly holy priests who seek nothing but Thy greater glory and the salvation of our souls. Bless their words and prayers at the altar, in the confessional, in the pulpit, in all their work for the young, the sick and the aged.

Do thou, O Mary, Mother of the High Priest, protect all priests from dangers to their holy vocation. Obtain for me a true spirit of faith and humble obedience so that I may ever behold the priest as the representative of God and willingly follow him in the Way, the Truth and the Life of Christ. Amen.

Prayer of St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep Your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may harm them. Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of Your glorious priesthood. Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they have ministered to be their joy and consolation and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many holy priests. Amen.

A Prayer for Priests

O my Most Sweet Jesus, O Jesus, Eternal High Priest, keep Your priests in the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where no one can hurt them. Keep their anointed hands unsullied, which daily handle Your Sacred Body. Keep pure the lips which are reddened with Your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unworldly their hearts which are sealed with the sublime token of Your glorious priesthood. Cause them to grow in love and loyalty to You and protect them from the contamination of the world. With their power of transforming bread and wine, give them the power of transforming hearts. Bless their work with rich fruit and grant them one day the crown of eternal life. Amen.

[Sunflower15]

On the Year of the Priest, each of them will be particularly struggling with every possible attack from Evil…let’s pray for them! Our Lady, keep every priest safe within your Immaculate Heart and lead them to your beloved Son Jesus.

Lord Jesus Christ, son of the living God, have mercy on us sinners.

Lord in Heaven, we pray that you will continue to sustain your servant priests in faithfulness and zeal for the truth. Grant them an increase in both holiness and orthodoxy. May the gift of fortitude be theirs, so that they are able to persevere in the face of constant opposition from the evil one. They have been set apart from others in our world for an eternal purpose. Graciously strengthen them for this purpose O Lord, From their example of humility and dedication, may many young men be drawn to their vocation, beginning with my own son. Grant this through the intercession of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Lord, thank You so very much for our priests. Without them our lives would be so different. Bless them for answering Your call to religious life. I pray that there will be more volunteers to help them out with what they need help with so they don’t feel overwhelmed. Your church isn’t only the priests. It’s also the lay people. Give them the strength they need when they feel discouraged because of lack of involvement and growth. Help them to not be so hard on themselves and feel guilty about things they shouldn’t feel guilty about. Let Your Spirit continue to reign in their hearts. Amen.
