Lord, may Your love be manifested through the hearts, words and actions of Your servant priests. Grant that their patient and loving example may draw a multitude of souls to You. Mercifully strengthen them to resist the temptations and snares of this world, keeping them holy and blameless before You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, allowing His gifts to go forth for the building up of Your visible Church on earth. Grant this through the intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Prayer for Priests

Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.
As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,
holy people.

Amen.

Prayer for Priests
Almighty God, look upon the face of Jesus who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today‘s world. They are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You so the enemy may not prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests.

Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

The Sacraments

Heavenly Father, through Jesus You give Your priest power to minister Your Sacraments. Grant that he may always do so with deep love and faith.

Let those he baptises belong always to You. If at some time in their lives they fail to trust Your love and to share Your gifts, protect them through this time and lead them safely back with renewed faith and obedience to Your will.

Let all who are present at the Eucharist with him truly share in it. Let all who receive Communion through his ministry become aware of the greatness of this gift.

Let those who confess to him find true sorrow and absolution—and let him speak to them out of Your knowledge and love of them.

Let anyone he anoints in sickness and in death be healed in spirit, comforted by Your peace, and absorbed eternally into You through Your divine mercy.

Along with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, give to those to whom he administers Confirmation a deep abiding desire to grow in You and the urge constantly to invoke the Spirit’s guidance.

Let all whom he blesses in Matrimony be given strength and wisdom to build and maintain unity in Your faith and love—and may they transmit these gifts to their children.

Let he who is ordained, wholeheartedly fulfil his vows and duties, and Your will for him, so that he may attain the highest degree of service and sanctity possible to him and he may be truly Christ amongst us.

Let all the graces and blessings that You intend to flow from these Sacraments in which Your Priest is instrument, cascade from his ministering, to all persons who partake and behold.

Lord in Heaven, we ask Your continuing mercy and grace upon the leaders of the Church, which is Christ’s Body on earth. From our Holy Father to the newest parish Priest, grant them the faith and obedience of Abraham. Fill their bosom with the valiant soldier’s heart of Naaman, that they will march into battle for the sake of Your Kingdom. May they possess inner strength to match the bodily strength of Samson, while having the confidence of David, the conquering youth. May they be Spirit-filled, as was Simeon the Prophet. See that they have the meekness of a lamb, in emulation of the Blessed Lamb of God. Mercifully bless them with the power to command away the evil one and his demons. May they teach fearlessly, as did their Apostolic forbears. Lord, as with our glorious Saint Paul, may they become all things to all, so that many hearts may come to repentance and full knowledge of the salvation which You offer us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We ask this through the perfect intercession of the same Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
