Father, we ask this day that Your Divine blessing be upon your servant Priests on earth. Strengthen them and allow those whom they serve to return love for love. Comfort them, O Heavenly Father, with graces that will sustain them through each and every test of this life. May the good that they do store up treasure for them in Your Kingdom. It is through the ministration of their hands that Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is made present to us. As we thank them for their service, let us also love and serve them in return, in emulation of Jesus’ example to us all. Grant this through the perfect intercession of the same Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Prayer for Priests

Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.
As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,
holy people.

Amen.

A Prayer for Priests

Divine Saviour, Jesus Christ, Who have entrusted your work of redemption to the priests, Who take your place on earth, I offer You, through the hands of Your most holy Mother, for the sanctification of Your priests and future priests this whole day, all my prayers, works, joys, sacrifices and sufferings. Give us saintly priests. Grant to them apostolic hearts, filled with love for You and all the souls belonging to You, so that, being themselves sanctified in You, they may sanctify us who are entrusted to their care and bring us safely into Heaven.
Loving Jesus, bless all their priestly work and sacrifice. Bless all their prayers and words at the altar and in the confessional, in the pulpit, in the school and at the sickbed. Call many young men to the priesthood and the monastic life. Protect and sanctify all who will become Your priests. And grant to the souls of the priests who have departed this life, eternal rest.
And do you, Mary, Mother of all priests, take them under your special protection and lead them ever to the highest priestly sanctity. Amen.

St. John Vianney, Patron Saint of Priests pray for us. Amen.

St. Padre Pio, pray for our Priests. Amen.

Father in Heaven, even though this year has been declared the year of the Priest, we realize that each and every year is the year of the Priest. Without the ministering hands of Your servants, we would have no Eucharist - the source and summit of our faith. And so, we ask You to continue pouring out Your blessings upon them, strengthening them for the journey which leads to life eternal. As Jesus breathed His Spirit upon the Apostles, we beseech You to breathe that same Holy Spirit upon your Priests, filling them with all goodness. May each time we greet them be from our hearts, in gratitude for the life they have freely given for the sake of Your Kingdom. We ask this through the perfect intercession of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

O Jesus, Eternal Priest;
keep all Your priests within the shelter of Your
Sacred Heart, where none may harm them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the
sublime marks of Your glorious priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and shield them
from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit,
and may the souls to whom they have ministered to
be their joy and consolation
and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.

O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us;
obtain for us many holy priests.

Amen.
