Loving God,

We lift up our intentions today that you would have mercy on the world and prevent the widespread hysteria and loss of life with this strain of flu. Please guide the works of our medical professionals and governmental leaders to help prevent and contain the flu. Please heal those who are ill, and help the families and care givers to be brave and loving as they minister to the sick. We accept your Holy and perfect will in all things and thank you for your many blessings in our lives.

We pray in the name of your beloved son Jesus, the Good Shepherd of your people.

Amen.

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hollowed be thy name

Praying the Rosary, and praying to St. Roch and Sister Mary of the Holy Trinity for this intention…

DEVOTION TO ST. ROCH

PRAYER AGAINST SICKNESS
O God, who didst promise St. Roch by an angel that all who had recourse to him should have nothing to fear from pestilence and contagious maladies, grant that through his intercession we may be preserved from all dangers, both of soul and body, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER IN TIME OF CONTAGION
Glorious St. Roch, present in our favor thy efficacious prayers to the throne of Divine Mercy, that we may not be affected by the scourge of contagion. Preserve us, by thy intercession, from the pestilence of the body; and above all, obtain for us deliverance from the more grievous maladies of the soul. Amen.

Many cities have been speedily delivered from the plague by imploring the intercession of St. Roch; in particular, the City of Constance, during the General Council held there in 1414. St. Roch was born of a noble family in Montpelier, and making a pilgrimage of devotion to Rome, he devoted himself entirely to serving the sick during raging pestilence. (Lives of the Saints).

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Blessed be the Lord who heals the sick
Blessed be Mary, Mother of God
Blessed be the Trinity
And blessed be the saints and angels.
Join with us in prayer
All saints in heaven
All souls in Purgatory
And let God hear our voices
Sing out in praise and pleading
Unto Him.
We ask for the spread of the swine flu to end
And for the continued healing of all the sick.
We pray for the souls of those who’s lives it has taken
And for those who work so hard to heal them.
There is nothing beyond the Lord
And no sickness cannot be healed by Him.
We have faith, O Lord, in You.
Hear our prayers
Heal and comfort the sick
Keep this flu from spreading
Bring strength to the doctors and nurses helping the sick
And to those working on medications to fight it
As well as to the families of the sick.
In the name of the Father
And of the Son
And the Holy Spirit
Amen.
