Loving God,

We lift up our intentions today that you would have mercy on the world and prevent the widespread hysteria and loss of life with this strain of flu. Please guide the works of our medical professionals and governmental leaders to help prevent and contain the flu. Please heal those who are ill, and help the families and care givers to be brave and loving as they minister to the sick. We accept your Holy and perfect will in all things and thank you for your many blessings in our lives.

Lord, please heal the 12 year old boy in our community who has a mild case of this flu and comfort his family and class mates.

We pray in the name of your beloved son Jesus, the Good Shepherd of your people.

Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never
was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored
thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of
virgins, my Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise
not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer
me. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us our daily bread
And forgive us of our tresspasses
As we forgive those who tresspass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Amen.

O God, who adorned the blessed Nicholas thy priest with innumerable miracles, grant to us, we beseech, that by his favors and prayers the spread of this flu be stopped. Through our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, O God, world without end. Amen.
  • From a medieval book of hours, our intention has been added
And if any be greatly sick, beyond hope of recovery, may Saint Jude, hope of the hopeless, pray for them.
