When members of the Westboro Baptist Church arrive next Saturday in Wheeling to relay their message of hate at four local Catholic institutions, local clergy and parishioners will do what they always do - pray for them.
Prayer, not retaliation, is the message from officials at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to the parishioners and leaders at St. Michael Parish, St. Alphonsus Parish, the Cathedral of St. Joseph and Wheeling Jesuit University.
All three churches and the university are on the list of places where the Westboro protesters are expected to picket next Saturday. All four locations regularly offer Mass on Saturday evening.
