Did Jesus come to us through being born of Mary, or not?

A simple yes or no will suffice.
Of course, and she is always to be honored for that…but not in an overboard fashion as you guys do it. I bet she would be the first to try to get you to stop!

Your opinion is duly noted, as an opinion.

I don’t worship Mary nor do I treat her in an over the top way.

I respect Christ’s teachings and I know they are true. I have a Church with authority–I’m not a fallibly mistaken being who erects ‘my’ authority in place of Christ’s.

sure you do, you put a man’s, your pope, in place of Christ.

please feel free to learn the truth about us before you post your misunderstandings and mistaken claims as truth.

I’ll keep on seeing things God’s way.
I am afraid you cant being in that institution. Anyway, I am off to look at Jupiter and Venus in the evening sky with my scope…looks lovely already tonight. Have a good evening.

Enjoy the night sky. . . but feel free to come home to Rome and embrace God’s truth anytime.

BTW, Avenger, are you claiming that being a Catholic (or ‘part of that institution’ as you put it) makes it impossible for me to follow God? Are you claiming that the Catholic Church is stronger for evil than God is for good? That God has no power over any individual who happens to be Catholic?

No Catholic can do things ‘God’s way’ by virtue of being a member of the Catholic Church? That is a remarkable accusation. It is all the more remarkable in that Catholic teaching, while noting that Protestants do not possess the fullness of truth, most certainly possess some, even much, of that truth, recognizes Protestants as brothers and sisters, and has never stated that a Protestant cannot follow God’s way simply by virtue of being Protestant.

It appears that Catholic teaching is far more Christian in its treatment and perception of nonCatholics than your own personal Protestant teaching is to Catholics.

Noting that alone, I would be more inclined to see the Catholic faith as more fully Christian than your faith, avenger.

Really?

LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy — For the second time in a week, Pope Benedict XVI has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, reasserting the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church and saying other Christian communities were either defective or not true churches.

What you posted is not identified and thus how do you claim it to be Catholic teaching? Post the relevant paragraphs from the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the subject of Protestants and you’ll see I’m correct.

This is perfectly consistent. The Church has never defected from its teaching that by Christ’s warrant it is “prime.” The words “true church” refer to those churches in possession of true Apostolic succession and valid Orders and sacraments. These include all the churches of the East. “Other Christian communities” do not have the essential points of a “true church” – many of them outright reject the essential points of a true church.

Let me guess. Your seminary career was at age 14 in the juniorate, and you dropped out after one year.

Nope, and how in the world, in all logic, is that even remotely consistent?

I would also like to point out that you’re not showing that the Church is teaching that a person cannot follow God simply because he or she is a Protestant.

IOW, you’re not disproving what I said.

YOU said that as a ‘member of that institution I could not follow God’s way.’

Where are you showing that the Catholic Church teaches, in those words YOU used to me, that "as a member of a protestant church, protestants cannot follow God’s way.’

I believe I just did…did not your pope call them untrue churches?

Luke 1:,43. Elizabeth speaking with the words given to her by the Holy Spirit calls Mary the ‘Mother of my Lord’.

As important as Luke 1: 41 is.The above verse should be eye opening, and knee bending.

“Truth has always bothered people and is never comfortable.”
Cardinal Ratzinger

Peace, onenow1:thumbsup:

Blessed Mary, Mother of God Pray for us all !

Christ established ONE church; that is in Scripture. Therefore, if people are outside of that ONE church, they are not in a true church, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be trying to follow God. The Pope still said nothing about them not following GOD just because of being in a church that was not the only TRUE Church. He only noted, quite correctly, that there is only One True Church.

You do believe, don’t you, that say a Lutheran or a Baptist can follow God even if they are in a ‘denominational church’, right? You don’t say that because they aren’t nondenominational, like you, that they can’t follow God.

YOU said that as a Catholic I absolutely cannot follow God because of ‘being in that institution’. Those were your words.

Yet you somehow find fault with the Pope saying there is only ONE TRUE CHURCH? You find fault with the Pope even though he (unlike YOU) did not say that those not in the true church were not following God?

Why can YOU accuse me of not following God because I’m Catholic, a statement that is unChristian in itself, but a Christian man (the Pope) can’t make a true Scriptural statement that there is only ONE Christian church?
