The Battle Already Won
(The ‘Our Father’ Sonnet)

Eternal Father, sacred is your name,
To heaven I call you, behind the veil,
Let your kingdom be mine, my own domain,
If I obey your word, least not I fail.
Upon this terra, your heavenly plane,
My mouth is fed daily, full is my pail,
My sins are forgiven, if you so deign,
Free will is mine, to forgive, not to rail.
Help me to resist the tempter’s calling,
The opening wide, is easy to take,
Corrupted by vice, I shall be falling,
But, if I take heed, He will not forsake:
Praise be to the Father and to the Son,
Saved, I am. The battle already won.

I like that prayer 🙂 I dedicate it to all Cathoilc Answers members for the Easter period.
 
I am praying that my wife and I reconcile our marriage. She divorced me over a year ago, and lately has shown a change of heart (she used to scream at me when I said I still love her, to just quietly saying thank you now), and she used to swear she was never coming over here again, to coming over every once in a while (well, ok, to borrow money, let me fix her car, etc. but we end up going to dinner and having a fantastic and fun time each time… I wish she could see how good we are together)… so my prayer is that she obeys the Lord Yeshua and reconciles our marriage. Please agree and pray with me.🙂 🙂

The Doctors And Other Professionals Need To Be Touched By Your Spirit Father To Know That What They Provide Is A Gift From You And Not Just A Practice To Make Wealth. Please Enter All The People Who Have Posted Here And Everywhere Around The World As The Needs Are Great. You Know Them All And We Trust In You. In Jesus Name I Pray.

I was laid off yesterday from a company I’ve worked at for 16 years. Well, technically I was laid off, but in reality I was fired… its just that I get all the benefits of being laid off.

My view of how to do business was in conflict with a co-worker/supervisor and a client. In a sense I’m relieved it’s all over. The stress was getting to me and the personality differences with the above were becoming intollerable. That fact that it has occured this week of all weeks and the two I worked with/for claim to be “Christians” (protestant) has left me feeling used and lied to.

God, grant me the ability to forgive them and turn them over to your care and justice.

I’m not immediately destitute, but I am a little scared. I’m almost 50, have no degree, and I have no desire to really continue in the business I was in (defense contractor). If I change to something else it may be for $10-15K less than what I was making. That would be a significant life-style change. I have dreamed of living a simpler life and being “poor in spirit” … but it may now become a “poor in body” too.

I have no immediate family… just one aunt I keep in contact with. Death and estrangement claimed the rest of my family four years ago. I wish I could become a monk and live a life of contemplation and pennance. Guess I’m too old even for that.

Please pray for me. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, committed a lot of sins. Last week I just celebrated my second year as a Catholic. Next week will be the forth annivesary of my mother’s death. Why is this all happening now?

Lord, what is your plan for me? I can’t see it yet.

Please, please pray for my brother—he is the middle of a terrible divorce and is debating if to reconcile for the sake of his child (his wife needs serious mental help which she refuses to get. She has done awful thing to mentally torture him this past year dispite his pleas to get personal and marriage counciling) With the split up came many severe financial hardships with the loss of the wife’s income. Please pray for him for good councel and to make the decision that God would want hime to make…Thank you and God Bless.
 
In addition to my brother, please pray for my mother. She has many, many health and financial hardships that seem to be getting worse. Please pray that she will have the strength to endure them…Thank you and God Bless.
