A friend of mine suffered the indiginity of being a victim of a rather awful financial scam. While he was merely looking to take on a roomate to help him cover the bills at his house, he got taken in by someone with a UK mailing address who sent him counterfeit money orders. When he recieved them, the con had asked him to use a portion of it and wire it to Nigeria… Thinking it was legit, he did just that, and then the bank informed him the money orders were all counterfeit/canceled…
He was conned out of almost $3K that he now owes to the bank and may be facing fraud charges.
He was not doing great financially before, now he is in some really rough shape.
He is not a greedy person - he rather selflessly gives his time and energy to a lot of volunteer work - especially with abused/abandoned rescue dogs (that is how we met)… He is angry at himself, and is despairing his situation rather gravely at this time.
I NEVER pray for money, but I do pray that folks who come into financial trouble have a soft landing that allows them to get on with focussing on the business of salvation. I ask for all of your prayers that this good man does not further suffer the indignity of prosecution, but can work through all this, and not despair his situation.
Please pray for him - maybe just an extra Hail Mary when you read this.
***“Gracious St. Joseph, protect me and my family from all evil as you did the Holy Family. Kindly keep us ever united in the love of Christ, ever fervent in the imitation of the virtue of our Blessed Lady, your sinless spouse, and always faithful in devotion to you. Amen” ***
