Boomerang, I read up on taurine for tinnitus. It sounds like it can help. I’m seeing the doc this week and I’m going to ask him about it!

I pray for a cure, and until God wills it, for those of us suffering to have more good days than bad, and to more fully put our trust and hope in God.

Your doctor probably won’t know squat about taurine, but don’t let that discourage you. Supplements are usually met with blank stares or worse when discussing it with MD’s. I have also read about NAC being helpful for tinnitus. N-acetyl cysteine. Apparently it thins mucus, and sometimes tinnitus is caused by thick mucus in the eustachian tubes.

You’re probably right. He’ll listen politely to me, but not offer anything useful. My ENT in Cleveland had recommended CoQ10, but it gave me terrible headaches. I also tried magnesium and a B complex. I didn’t notice much difference.

The weather here is cold! The wind chill this morning was -4! There’s just a little bit of snow on the ground, though. I’m ready for spring!

Well, I’m off to the doctor this morning. It feels like there’s fluid or something in my ear and the tinnitus has been louder. IT’s also been painful. Not in the ear canal, but on the outside of my ear, near my face.
 
So I have some congestion in my ear. I’m on two weeks of Prednisone and have to use a nose spray twice a day. I was concerned because I have to fly at the end of the month, so the doctor said to make sure I time taking the prednisone for when I’m traveling He said for most people, this combination clears things up. Praying I"m one of them!

Boomerang, I asked him about Taurine. He said he studied it years ago, but wasn;t sure of it’s uses for help with tinnitus. He said he won’t hurt me, so if I want to try it, there’s no reason not to.

Great! Keep us in the loop on how you are doing with the steroid therapy and taurine. I know when the weather is bad, my hissing gets worse. Sudafed helps with that so I know there is some congestion going on. It never clears it up entirely, though.

I noticed a weird thing starting about a week ago. Sometimes the tinnitus will abruptly stop completely for just a split second. Total silence. Then it’s back, like some internal switch got turned off and on. I have no idea what causes it. I can’t correlate it with anything at all. :confused: Ah, the mystery of tinnitus…no wonder doctors want to lock the door when they see us coming! 😃

I get the same thing sometimes. I’ll be in a quiet room and all of a sudden, there’s no noise. From what I’ve read, it’s fairly common. I have a friend of Facebook that I met through a T group and he always says “may the pause be with you”! 😃

Oh, and I’m sorry to ask again, but I have an appointment with the dentist to talk about possible TMJ. Dentist appointments can be rough for people with tinnitus (the one I had in June was really bad). If you could please pray for me that it goes well, it would be appreciated.
