Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Pray for the intercession of St. Thomas Aquinas, who is the patron of college students… he can relate to family being concerned of him going away and studying abroad, even to the point of his mother sending him to Paris and his brothers holding him captive to try preventing him from pursuing his vocation- God’s will for his life

It’s normal for family to disapprove or worry about the possibility of you branching out of the nest of their security (comfort zone) and making your own decisions… sooner or later it’s bound to happen… something that happens to all of us for different reasons. I can see why your mother would worry about you studying in another country, but remember that it’s likely not about the schooling but rather that you’re branching out to find your niche… she can’t find it for you; it’s your life, not theirs. Discern thru prayer with God whether that decision to study abroad is His Will for you or not- ask Him for guidance to decide what to do in this predicament and grace to sustain you in confronting your family about this big step that is likely to change your life for the better. Pray for your family, especially your mom who worries about you- whatever she’s thinking about that is causing her to worry (in which worry truly isn’t from God anyways), pray for her anyways to accept what she cannot change and to practice peace amid the storm.
