Prayers for Baby with cancer in both eyes

Praise God that the sister has gone this long without any cancer and is more than half-way to the “safe age” of 5! What is the sister’s name, if you don’t mind sharing? Big sister is Juliana, little one is Anneliese.

Mommy is a Roman Catholic from Germany (yes - like the Pope).
Grandma from Germany has arrived for two months and her husband arrives today. All are LOVELY. The daddy is American
Protestant (widowed) and older half-sister is 14.yo. Quite a family? Yes.
 
More prayers agin, especially on this great feast day.

On Tuesday Anneliese’s parents will take her to a different metro area for a second opinion. Most cancer specialists agree that any chemo should not go beyond a year and this month, NOV, makes a year. Her local doctors are quite willing to do another two to three months of chemo and Anneliese is one of the HEALTHIEST babies ever in my sole care - but I know the doctors are thinking in terms of long-term effects and potential needs. The cancer is all dead in the worse eye and her rods/cones have adapted (as happens easily in infancy) to give her fairly good vision in that eye, regardless. But the better eye has some small growing cancers still. This is grim so we wait upon God. Prayers, prayers and prayers, please.

PS - International numbers on this cancer: 5000 cases/yr. Locally (USA): fewer than 400 cases/yr.

CHAPLET TO GOD’S MERCY

Using normal rosary beads,begin with:

the Apostles Creed :I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven …

On the five large beads :

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood,Soul and
Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son,Our Lord Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the ten small beads :
V. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
R. Have mercy on us and on the whole world.

At the end of the Divine Mercy Chaplet say three times:

Holy God, Holy Mighty One Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy
Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Invocation: O Blood and Water that gushed forth from
the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us,
I trust in You (3 times)

How is Anneliese doing, Catharina? We’re still praying for her every single day.
 
My apologies for waiting until your nudges have made me respond. In one sense, Anneliese is doing surprisingly well. The decision has been made to stop chemo since a doctor (consultant, out of town) determined that no blood vessels are directly feeding the tumors - hence chemo wouldn’t easily reach the tumors either. The tumors are either very small and now disintegrating or remnants of two rather large ones (in other eye) and they are in “full collapse/resolution” mode. New plan: very strong laser treatments.

My reticence has been the result of some medical goofy stuff. The doctor who provided the very educated “second opinion” was more than willing to communicate his knowldege of the proper intensity of lasers to end the tumor-remnants entirely; however the local doctor who has been treating the baby’s cancers for a year has decided to “drop” the baby and her family - since doctor is furious that the parents are accepting the advice of the “second opinion doctor” and his team. (Yet the original doctor suggested getting the second opinion!) It’s a very disheartening “worse case scenario” and it means that baby and parents will have to travel hundreds of miles to and from the new city for at least three laser treatments. We’re all stunned, saddened and appalled. I’m related to many physicians (I’m one of 36 first cousins) and I’ve never heard of such heartless thinking in regard to a patient who began chemo at two-months-old!

How incredibly cold of that Dr. to do this. I don’t understand the reasoning of it being that even I myself had inter Dr./state help in my case and consultation. I would think it would be the norm. I’m glad to hear the child is getting better and still pray this will soon be over and she can start her life out only remembering the love she has received. Tim

Thanks. Remarkably, this child is a very happy, playful baby.

Oh, what a lot of extra stress to add to this poor family! At least they are away from this horrid doctor. Who knows, maybe he wasn’t as competent as originally thought, and maybe the new doctor is the answer to all of our prayers. I will remember them all at Mass in a few minutes. :gopray:
